Really not funny anymore.




Watched an original Star Trek episode this afternoon - 'Shore Leave'. They go to an 'uninhabited' planet and suddenly crazy things start to happen! The White Rabbit and Alice appear! Sulu finds an antique gun! Kirk runs, McCoy flirts, female crew members scream and cling!

And the yomen - her tunic is torn! On the right! No, on the left! No, just the collar! Somehow, the act of flipping Captain Kirk over the bad guy's shoulders makes *his* shirt rend itself! Manly nipple of James Tiberius!

The continuity sucked, there was too much eyeshadow on the guys - and not in the good way - and the women were all just...losers. But omfg. I still loved it.
Also? Slashy. Wheeeee! 'Trouble With Tribbles' soon.


*I adored 'shore leave' as a kid 'cause - omg, you could imagine *horses*!! You could imagine an awesome horse and it would trot up to you and you could ride it!! The perfect world!!*

Hallo! Seems like ages... Time seems to get away from me with alarming frequency. *Anyway* Before we do the updates, I wanted to link to a really interesting interview I saw on PBS last week.

Firstly, the show is Bill Moyers - On Faith and Reason. I like Bill Moyers, he seems sensible and open to all kinds of things. Also, he gives good interview.
He was talking to a UK author, Jeanette Winterson. They were discussing faith, then heroes of old *re: Greek/Roman heroes* and writing. She had some - to me - *very* interesting things to say about heroes. Things that brought Spike and Angel and Lindsey and Wesley very strongly to mind. She also talked about writing, and while she's a 'profic' writer, what she said applies to fanfic, as well. The entire transcript of the interview is here. But i wanted to put a couple of my favorite quotes in this post.

Hullo! Two updates in two days! That's not like me. :)

However...i wanted to inject a teeny rant here first. Nothing too vitriolic, just... I've been seeing around my....i dunno, reading list? or whatever...not necessarily my flist, 'cause i follow a lot of links and such... Basically, the sentiment i keep seing is 'Well, *this show* is kinda cool but it's not Buffy...

And man, that makes me kind of...annoyed. And disappointed, 'cause - *of course* it's not Buffy! And if every new show has to *be* Buffy than guys - you're gonna be stuck watching your DVDs for the rest of your life. No, these show's *aren't* Buffy or Angel, but - they're *good*, some of them. So take off the Buffy glasses and give 'em a chance!!

Hullo, lovely flist! And assorted, random folk, whoever you may be. Wheee!! Right now, I am internally bouncing all over like a weasel on speed. Externally, i'm sipping cold water and feeling sorry for myself but *internally*...wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

The visit with sweptawaybayou was cancelled, alack and alas, because her household was struck down with illness. And so was *i*, blah. Day and a half on the couch with fever and whatnot, so not fun. Doing better now, though.

The biggest *wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* however is that i'm coming to you live from my new computer! The old was...well, last time we did a disc de-frag, in the hopes of making it work a little better, it was close to fifty percent unrecoverable, bad sectors. And it was taking almost a half-hour to reboot. And it was randomly shutting off. And i could go and do the dishes in the time it was taking for the browser to open. So. New computer! I'm all *zooooooooooooooooooooom!!* :) Plus, spiffy flat LCD monitor, so teh bomb.

So that's why i haven't been around as much. Hopefully in the next day or so i'll catch up on everything and go through my backlog of bookmarks and whatnot. If you put something out there you know i should have read, link me! I don't wanna miss stuff! :)

And now, time for some more Neverland. It's a short chapter, i know. I haven't been able to write for a couple weeks, since Word was as fuxored as everything else, and i'm afraid i'll run out of stuff to post too fast if i post my usual big chapters. So - bear with me!

Also, I put my name up at the Multifandom DVD Commentary Challenge - i thought it would be fun. I'm on page three. Basically, it's DVD commentary on someone *elses* fic, so if you've ever wanted to do that to my fic - i know, i *know*! fat chance! - have at it.

The weather continues hot, although it *did* rain on Thursday. Also, Monstrous is staying with my folks until Wednesday and i *miss* her! *sniffle*

pretties_4u has a truck now - used but nice - so the car is mine, all mine! I spent a couple hours today cleaning it and it's so cleeeeeeeeeeeean! and sparkly! Yis!
