More posting, why not?

I'm sure you all can see the big, blank square at the top of my journal (or maybe you can't, who knows.....)

Anyway, I uploaded the header image i've had over at LJ for years to my DW account, put the 'embed image' url into the 'header' slot in the 'customize my theme' page here on DW and....
Big blank, no image. It's baffling.

Is it possibly that my 'theme' won't support a header?
If anyone out there has a suggestion, I'm open!!

I might even change the image, since it's been so long and I might just need a refresh...but we'll see.

Try just copying the exact image link, not the embed thingy. That worked for me.

I'll try. I don't ever seem to be able to *get* the image link - DW's image hosting is really weird.

Yay! Now I'm just trying to place the header in the right position. It's always a little to the right or a little to the left of the rest. Bah! But I've been tweaking my colours as well, copying as I can my LJ style and I'm getting there, although it's taken me all morning. I got so focused I forgot to have breakfast. Haven't even had my coffee yet and it's almost two o'clock. Bloody hell!

Choosing 'center' doesn't center it? That's annoying.
I didn't know you could change the colors on the themes - i thought they were fixed! How do you do that?

I thinnk it's just too small or something. I'd rather it would then just line with the entry boxes on the right side, since it won't reach over the whole thing. But it is always off by a litle.

In Customize Style, under Customize your theme, you can chose Colors. then I right clicked on the right places on my Lj journal, chose Inspect elements and there I can see the number of the colors I use for fonts, background etc. IT's slow and tedious work and you just have to keep tweaking and try things out until it looks more or less how you want. I wish there were better instructions though. The FAQ don't help at all.

Ooooh, okay. That's cool - i could plug in the color codes for anything I wanted, then...cool!
Thank you! I saw a couple themes i really liked, but the colors chosen were not good, for me, or colors I didn't like, so I was kind of annoyed.

That IS the big drawback (really the only one) of DW - the image hosting is VERY odd.

I like the familiar header. All this moving--upsetting. I grasp at familiar--but that's just me.

Agreed. I hosted images elsewhere the whole time because first LJ didn't offer it either and then when they did I didn't have a paid account for long. And now it's a lot quicker and easier for me to hot link from somewhere else because their system is indeed clunky.

I would do that if i needed a place to host a lot of images, but I just really don't post many. Eh. We'll see.
