Yay, yay yay! Living in a motel might sound fun - Sam and Dean sure seem to have all sorts of adventures! - but really, it's not. It's *boring*, and it costs way too much money, and...
Yeah.
Anyway -we're home! WHeeeeeeee!! So, so glad. We had the cats with us at the last, there - it was just *so damn cold* in the house, and i felt so bad for them, all alone in the cold and the dark.
I said in my last post that it looked like the Arden here, post-fighting. Well, funny i should say that because my dad - a WWII vet - said that driving home from the store this afternoon, he was thinking it all looked familiar...and when he finally figured it out, he realized his town looked like a little French village he'd seen right after Normandy, that had been shelled to within an inch of its life.
So. My home state looks like the aftermath of war. So not good.
For those of you interested, here's a couple pictures. Pretty big, so dial-up beware!
The tree on the carport.
Nice crunchy close-up.
The whole mess!
And this? This is looking west from a good vantage point...we have sunlight! And clouds...
Currently, it's snowing. Light, fluffy, dry snow that probably won't stick. And omg, so, so cold. I like the cold. I really do! I just don't like the *ice*.
Skip 300 to catch up, and i've got bookmarks out the wazoo again. Sheesh! I missed you guys so much!
*hugs you all*
And now, i must sleeeeeeeeep. In my own comfy bed. Yes!
*blows kisses*
Yeah.

We're still looking at more snow, and it isn't right. DONE with the stuff, it can go away now, thanks ever so.
Julia, it is weather which demands soup. Lots of soup.

Snow i don't mind. Snow i can do. Ice just sucks.
Tomato soup for me, please. With cheese toast.

Beautiful pictures- but, bloody hell! Destruction! Trees are *really* big when the top end comes down to say hi.
I lived sans electricity for quite a while; do you have any kind of metal bucket or barrel that could be used as a burner? However you will need something dry to burn so maybe scratch that idea.
Sleep well! Flights of angels (bearing soup) sing thee to thy rest.

They *are* big! Skeery big.
We really had nothing at all to do...anything with. And while i'd 'camp' in my own house, it's not something i want to do with a nine-year-old.
Soup! Ahhhhh, soup.
:)

I hope you get *nothing* like this weather! Cold i can cope with, but the ice just sucks.

Take care when the sun comes out for real - the ice falling out of the trees can be very dangerous.

I hate electric stoves, anyway, and all-electric just...bugs me.
Today there's sun, yes. We'll see what kind of ice-lumps fall on the roof!

I just wanted to be home, so, yay!
Plus - missed the cats!
They were a little freaked by the hotel but were ultimately okay.

How did the cats like the hotel? I remember our only experience of cats in a hotel, when we were moving from New Jersey up here to Massachusetts and stopped for the night somewhere, I think in Maryland. We stayed at a motel and were so scared they would throw us out if they found out we had the two cats. Took all sorts of precautions to keep them a secret! Turned up the TV to drown out their mews when we had to run out for food at the restaurant across the street, for example.
I hope it isn't awful getting the carport fixed.

The place we stayed allows pets. When i went to give the guy the pet deposit - a very nice man from India - he said 'thank you so much for being honest about your pets'.
I constructed a three-sided 'box' made of trash bags and layered trash bags and newspaper on the floor under their litterbox. Just in case. They did really well, though. They freaked a little and did that 'stare hard at *everything* omg!' thing for a while, then they just settled down and laid on the beds with us. Or looked out the window. I was so happy to be with my cats again! I really missed them.
The carport's still standing and it's not all - wobbly or anything, so it's no hurry to get it fixed. We have to wait and see about insurance and stuff, so...
Yay! Home!
:)

I get frostbites just looking at the pics!

Me too. Hotels are fun but...not when you have to *live* there.
Sheesh.

And it was all super-pretty this morning, with the sun up and shining all icy-gold through the still-ice-covered trees.

The last picture is kind of pretty - with the ice encrusted grasses and ferns, but it does look cold.
I hope you're all okay now and the car port was the only bit of the house that took damage (small mercies, and all that). Keep well and warm.

*crosses fingers*
We got snow last night, so pretty again! but also - slippery. Heh.
