Yay, yay yay! Living in a motel might sound fun - Sam and Dean sure seem to have all sorts of adventures! - but really, it's not. It's *boring*, and it costs way too much money, and...
Yeah.

Anyway -we're home! WHeeeeeeee!! So, so glad. We had the cats with us at the last, there - it was just *so damn cold* in the house, and i felt so bad for them, all alone in the cold and the dark.

I said in my last post that it looked like the Arden here, post-fighting. Well, funny i should say that because my dad - a WWII vet - said that driving home from the store this afternoon, he was thinking it all looked familiar...and when he finally figured it out, he realized his town looked like a little French village he'd seen right after Normandy, that had been shelled to within an inch of its life.

So. My home state looks like the aftermath of war. So not good.

For those of you interested, here's a couple pictures. Pretty big, so dial-up beware!

The tree on the carport.

Nice crunchy close-up.

The whole mess!

And this? This is looking west from a good vantage point...we have sunlight! And clouds...

Currently, it's snowing. Light, fluffy, dry snow that probably won't stick. And omg, so, so cold. I like the cold. I really do! I just don't like the *ice*.

Skip 300 to catch up, and i've got bookmarks out the wazoo again. Sheesh! I missed you guys so much!
*hugs you all*

And now, i must sleeeeeeeeep. In my own comfy bed. Yes!
*blows kisses*

Poor bebes! We once had no power for three days, when I was in college. We cooked over a kerosene stove and went to bed reeeely early. So glad you're okay. You can skip me---I haven't been doing anything or writing anything!

Welcome home!

We're still looking at more snow, and it isn't right. DONE with the stuff, it can go away now, thanks ever so.

Julia, it is weather which demands soup. Lots of soup.

Wow! You guys *really* got hit by that storm. It iced up here, but no where near what you got, looks like. I'm glad you guys are okay! *hugs*

Bloody hell.

Beautiful pictures- but, bloody hell! Destruction! Trees are *really* big when the top end comes down to say hi.

I lived sans electricity for quite a while; do you have any kind of metal bucket or barrel that could be used as a burner? However you will need something dry to burn so maybe scratch that idea.

Sleep well! Flights of angels (bearing soup) sing thee to thy rest.

Beautiful pics, but such mayhem! Glad you're home. We're forecast a high wind all over the UK for Thursday, but I don't suppose it'll come close to your weather. :) Thank goodness!

Glad you're home! Generally my area gets at least one ice storm each year - we've been spared this time. Still the power company doesn't think its cost effective to bury the power lines so we have gas heat and hot water, gas logs, wood stove and a generator and just camp out when the power goes out.

Take care when the sun comes out for real - the ice falling out of the trees can be very dangerous.

burr! I know you said no power -- did the tree take out the lines as it viciously attacked your carport? Hotels get old really fast. I'm glad you're back home again. The tree pictures would be pretty if there weren't that pesky broken bit of carport mixed in. :-)

*hugs* Welcome baaaaaaack! That last picture was pretty! OMG!! I'm so damned glad none of you were hurt!

So. My home state looks like the aftermath of war. So not good.
Dayum.....

Glad you're home. Hey, at least it was just the carport!
What a pretty view you have!
And.... watch for a small package in the mail in thanks for the pants.
*hugs*

Oh my gosh! Glad you all are home safe with kitties! *sends cocoa*

I grew up in Pennsylvania, so I remember ice storms. Big ass storm, bright shiny sunlight, the woods full of explosions as the trees begin coming apart from the ice on the branches. So gorgeous and sparkly and deadly. The air full of the sound of wind chimes that is the little icy twigs hitting together.

We kept an ice-encased pine twig in the freezer for months.

Welcome home!

Those photos are just beautiful, which is entirely not right. Glad it was just the carport ... and as I was typing that a set of windchimes fell from the ledge of my desk and scared what's left of the bejesus out of me so ... I'll just say I'm glad all is well now. Eep!

Glad you're home again -- a forced evacuation is nothing like a vacation. And ice storms are strange things. So dangerous and damaging but at the same time the landscape is so beautiful.

Even though I feel sorry for your house, I love the pics you took.
I am glad you're home safe now!

Yike! Beautiful scenery but tell it it's not supposed to visit, k? *g*

Ow! We're iced in too. Most of northern Mo. looks like an ice skating rink. Ugh. So sorry to see the distruction. *hugs*

What an adventure -- but I'm so glad for your sake that it's over. Those pictures are incredible! I'm imagining what it must look like now with the fluffy snow on top of the ice, if any of it stuck.

How did the cats like the hotel? I remember our only experience of cats in a hotel, when we were moving from New Jersey up here to Massachusetts and stopped for the night somewhere, I think in Maryland. We stayed at a motel and were so scared they would throw us out if they found out we had the two cats. Took all sorts of precautions to keep them a secret! Turned up the TV to drown out their mews when we had to run out for food at the restaurant across the street, for example.

I hope it isn't awful getting the carport fixed.

Oh my f*** god!
It's all iced, just a bit of snow!
I get frostbites just looking at the pics!
*big hugs*

*smishes* I'm glad you're all okay and able to be back at home. :)

So, boo to general destruction, but so pretty!
Sunday, January 21st, 2007 10:31 am (UTC)
Glad to hear you're back with the power. I've been catching up on flist all weekend, so I saw your first post, but it was so old, I was hoping for better news of you all.
The last picture is kind of pretty - with the ice encrusted grasses and ferns, but it does look cold.
I hope you're all okay now and the car port was the only bit of the house that took damage (small mercies, and all that). Keep well and warm.

Goodness, love!

Very stunning visuals.

I'm glad you guys are all okay. *smootch*

Ouch! The ice on the branches is really pretty, but I know that's not much consolation for the damage. I'm glad you guys weren't hurt and that your car survived okay!
