Okay - two questions.
First - i go to my main journal page and then click on 'userinfo' to get to the menu where i can do an update.
Is there some OTHER way to do this?

Second question. Here in 'merica, we say 'Get out of jail free' card, which means that you have a way out of trouble. Like, your dad is the principal at school, so you won't be expelled for smoking in the bathroom. He's your get out of jail free card.
If you're English - like Giles or Ethan or Spike - would you say that? Or is there an equivilent English expression?

And, 'cause i'm a geek, the free card thing is from the board game Monopoly.
Pop culture becomes regular culture!

First person to help me gets...my undying gratitude??
I'd promise a fic, but i'm so behind right now it'd be a month before i'd even get to it.
So, you know, no good bribes but please please help!
:)

I update my journal through a client. I use Semagic. It is a lot easier (for me anyway). But if you want to do it through LJ directly, that's how I would do it.

Have you tried via the faq page? lj virgin here so may not be a lot of help (never thought I'd get to use that word ever again with myself in mind!! *g*)

And yep we use that phrase too from Monopoly I use it frequently.

By the by is there a Hero chapter lurking on the horizon within the week you think ?...no pressure just a loving enquiry *smiles sweetly*

Ummm...I just have 'update journal' on my list of favourites so I can go strat to it without hunting around....

And question number 2: Monopoly is actually an English game by origin so I'm thinking they would get it....but having said that...I'm a Kiwi, what would I know...but we use the phrase too (and normally use the English version of the game...A trip to Mayfair anyone *giggle*)

Hi there

I don't think we would say 'get out of jail free card'.
The only thing I can think of that comes anywhere near is to say:
He'll be alright, he's 'got friends in high places'.
It's a very English thing to say - hope that helps.

'Get out of jail free' card works for me. I can't say I've used it but I've heard it used. 100% Brit here. ;o)
