I believe that your husband is a tattoo artist, right? If I'm not on crack and imagining that, I was wondering if I could ask you a tattooing question.
I have a friend who burned herself with an iron on her hand and it's left a scar. She doesn't like the scar and is wondering about the feasibility of tattooing over a scar. Is that possible? A good idea?
Well...scars are funny things. Is it paler or darker than her own skin? If it's paler, an artist could tattoo over it to make it match her skin more. Cat tattooed an older Black gentleman in KC who had de-pigmentation on his hands and arms.
If it's *dark* than her skin tone, than the only thing he could probably do is cover it with something, but not if it's a raised 'keloid' scar.
Does that help? Any more questions, feel free to reply. I forgot where you are - we might know an artist in the area....
I think she wants to actually get an image to cover it, not just something to make it cosmetically blend in. That does help. I'll pass this info along to her.
She is in Boston, so any suggestions for that area?
She could get something over it, yeah. You can't cover 'dark' with 'light' in a tattoo - it's not like paint, so... Anything she gets will have to either tonally or bright/dark...uh, wise match the scar.
I dunno about Boston - i'll ask Cat when he gets home.
Heeeee! Dude, there's some excellent SGA out there....
People have this idea that tattoo ink is like acrylic paint or something, but it goes *under* the skin, and therefore under the *color* of the skin, and is, anyway, put in in minute amounts. So it won't cover up a big black mole *bad idea, anyway* or a very dark red/brown scar, and you can't tattoo white over black and make an older or ugly tattoo 'disappear'.
For the same reason, some colors - like white and yellow and pink - look different depending on how dark a person's skin is, and white itself never looks really *white*, on anybody.
You know what I love? That your man is our go-to guy for tattoo questions, LOL. I'm getting another one this summer when I go to Vic. Blackbirds. Pie. Say it with me: pie. MNNNNN.
LJ giving you grief? Have you been doing anything...untowards?
I find myself without a pie icon. Did I say cherry pie? I suppose it could be. What I'd like to base it on is this artist's work Michael Caines -- except instead of a bunny in a wolf suit, it would be...pie.
Um, I guess I just made you look, didn't I?
And the pie and blackbirds would be on my shoulder and there'd be a bunch of birds flying over my shoulder and one at the base of my neck and one on my other shoulder and A2 said he'd get one too! And won't it be happyshiny!
Like the children's rhyme, right? Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie? Right? Right? This isn't some wacky-ass carry-over from my hopelessly Scottish parents, is it?
The stuff's dead weird, yeah. But I like the crows. Blackbirds. Fuck the bunny/wolf...that's a little...odd...and the hairballs. Acid flashback or something.
I realize I may need Lawrence information for the next chapter of Fire in the Hole. Or at least, Kansas info. I'll see what I can dig up, but may lob some questions at you if you're up for it(?)
Oh, yis. Four and twenty blackbirds...heh. Also creepy, since they were *alive*. But then - Ma Ingalls made blackbird pie, too, only they were dead. Heh.
Ask away! I'll do my best. It's been a while since i've been there but...some things linger.
I like the counting crows rhymes best. :)
*scottish parents is...um...'ghosties and ghoulies and long-leggity beasties and things that go bump in the night! Good Lord deliver us.*
Woah, that seems... weird. *joins the poking* Although I'm wondering just how much of it is a glitch (a.k.a. lj being stupid) and how much of it is you actually under suspicion or something. I have to say, that I've been noticing it happening to a few other people as well. It's just... odd and hopefully not a sign of anything *crosses fingers*.
*decides finger poking isn't enough and gets out a big stick*
It *is* weird, but since i have *no* interests listed and nothing 'embarassing' or otherwise weird in my lj - i flocked the spn stuff - then... Nah, i really doubt it. No point in fucking around with individuals like that.
It's been going on for a few days, really - several people on my flist have been having trouble before this. I think there's just a lot of stuff going on right now and their servers are tweaking.
Heh, oh dude, no. Completely not trying to make you paranoid. The more I think about it the more I believe it's just LJ being it's usual finicky self. To tell the truth actually I never really paniced much throughout this whole thing so I'd be the last person to kinda buy into that. :D So really, not trying to freak you out here.
So, I'm a little late to the party, but I'm a lurker 'round the SPN fandom and I'd really like to be added to your flist. I suppose if there's anything good about all the wank is that it's made people like me delurk and maybe even comment a little. Spreading the love &tc. Anyways, hope your Lj gets your journal back online soon.

Yeah, he is, actually.

That makes sense about the tonal thing; I hadn't thought of it in those terms before but I see what you mean.

LJ is *pissing me off*. I want to change some links but it won't let me edit any posts, and it won't let me post anything *long* and......
Gah!
*kicks it*
Blackbirds? Pie? You're getting a tattoo of a blackbird pie?
*snicker*
Wow, cherry pie. I waaaaaaaaant some.

Creepy in the extreme.
Jayzus.
I like the one with the crows turning red.
And wtf, giant hairball?
Weird, weird, weird.
But cool. I like.
I have no pie icon, either.
*sigh*
