Was a bit worried about you when I heard the weather reports this morning and am so relieved that you and yours are all right. Things can be replaced - people can't.

I'm glad no one was hurt! I'd offer to send some California heat your way, but umm... yeah. It's just a bit above 30.

*hugs* Hopefully you'll be back really soon!

We dodged it over here -- sorry that the luck has been mixed for others. Thank heavens the tree only damaged the carport or the wintery cold would be even more of a problem in the weeks to come. Hope all gets back to normal soon :(

That was me, above - I was so busy shiver in sympathy, that I forgot to log in!!

*snuggles you*

Sounds wretched, you have my positive thoughts. Just to confirm, that's your carport that the tree smashed? There is not enough "goddammit" in the world.

What is it with the weather? We're normally a couple of weeks away from our annual "blossom count", wherein we make the rest of Canada jealous by showing off our daffodils. We have snow. Snow!!!

If I promise to stop driving to the store will Gaia take back her climate change and give us back our warm?
Monday, January 15th, 2007 08:24 pm (UTC)
And it occurs to me that the above sounds bratty and immature in the light of what everyone else is suffering. This is just bringing home the whole climate change/global warmin thing to a shocking extreme.

I hope everyone is pulling through well and you guys stay warm and safe.
Monday, January 15th, 2007 08:37 pm (UTC)
I am glad you are not ded. :D Sorry you are suffering. We've got roses and daffodils and you've got ice? WTF?!
Monday, January 15th, 2007 09:18 pm (UTC)
*squish* I hope you are okay and not freezing to death!

*builds you a fire*

I hope it works out alright!
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 04:17 pm (UTC)
Oh no! I hope by the time you read this that the power is back on and your whole family, cats included, are safe and warm back home. Ack for the carport, though! Sending you good wishes and thoughts and hopes for the best.
Tuesday, January 16th, 2007 06:21 pm (UTC)
I hope everything is okay, and you (+cats) are all warm and safe!!

Last time my power went out I couldn't deal and stayed at the sort-of-nearby Hampton Inn. Ahhh, running water. You really can't underestimate its worth.

I love the title--reminds me of that cool line from The Serpent And The Rainbow:

"Don't let them bury me . . . I'm not dead!"

Bill Pullman rocks.

Not as hard as you, but he tries, dear boy.

...just without power since last night. Posting from my brother in law's house. Sheesh, it's cold! Tree fell and went through the carport, the neighborhood looks like the Arden or something. Crazy.

WTF happened? Missouri is in the midwest, right? Was it a tornado? I got a brief taste of one of those in Minnesota during an internship--I was drunk off my ass with the other intern. We'd thought celebrating the tornado in a bar was a great idea. Till the bar had to batten down the hatches and we hadda go. Lotsa wind and rain--we nearly drowned. And that was just on the way to his truck! Which I totally thought was gonna tip over from the friggin wind.

The tornado knocked the power out for the next twelve hours. Most of which I thankfully spent unconscious in the bathtub, or unconscious in bed.

I was fun at work, the next day. The only thing I could stomach was cup after cup of coffee . . . you know, for that jolt of nervous, paranoid energy the tornado had sucked outta me, hee!

In retrospect, it was an interesting event, but sheesh, with a hubby, kid and cats, it's gotta be less interesting, more blisteringly inconvenient, and dangerous to boot.

Anyway - when we're back online, i'll be back!

You're back online! Can you get back in your house, yet?

ETA: We spent the day at bro-in-law's house and are now in the hotel. Wi Fi! Hehe. I'm worried about the cats - our house is so damn cold! If we have to do the hotel thing tomorrow, too, they're coming with us. Sheesh!

Cat-sickles?

::snorfles::
Dude, cats are 98% fur, they'll be fine. As long as you feed them, I mean.

Thanks for all the good wishes - i'll be back soon i hope!
*hugs*

You're back home--I didn't read the other comments till after I posted mine--I'm just smart like that.

Nature's a bitch and a half. I, for one, frown upon it.

When I get out to Seattle, I'm sending a wagon for you.
