...or What Tabaqui Does When She's Not Online.

Well, she - uh, *we* - go to the Lake of the Ozarks, where Cat is currently tattooing on the weekends. And omg, it was *hot*. So hot. Plus, the road is a secondary sort of highway and poor Monstrous got sick and had to throw up. Fortunately, there was a bag in the car. Unfortunately, I was also queasy. Gods, i hate driving on twisty, hilly roads!
I'd have died if i'd been a passenger.

Anway - we met the owner of the tattoo shop - a very fun 'old school' guy named Ted and his wife Jan. We admired all the lovely neon up at A-1 Tattoo and then we went walking around in the heat.

Drank lemonade, played skeeball and got our picture taken. Wheeeee! OMG so hot, but it was fun. I look like a school-marm, but hey!

Then we went out into the country about ten or so miles to see Ted and Jan's 'farm'. It's not terribly 'farmy' but they have horses! Yay! Next time we visit, when it's not over 100 degrees and i'm not wearing a skirt and sandals, we'll go horseback riding! Yay! *Yes, i'm a horse-grrrl for life*

Monstrous really loved Levi the horse.

And that was pretty much that. It was too hot to *do* much, and Monstrous and i were both sorta queasy from the ride so that going home was a relief.

On a final note - what sort of sadistic bastards send their teen-aged daughters out in 100-degree, heat index 104 weather to sell Christ door to door? Get a grip, people!

ETA: The Levi picture looks so weird 'cause Cat's lens was just filthy. Need to fix that.

You all look so solemn in that photo of the three of you, a really lovely photo. Your Monstrous is really a beautiful girl, she takes after both of you, in the best way. :)

When I was a kid my family vacationed quite a few times in the Ozarks, and I had so much fun. A really pretty part of the world, but yes - twisty roads. eep.

Horses are wonderful, Monstrous looks really happy, even though it is a bit cloudy.

I have no comment other than do people have no sense at all regarding the door to door Christ child. Man.

*smish* So, I hope the AC is still working and you are much cooler now. This heat is just so ugh.

NOOOOO! why is the world trying to boil my beloved??? OMG, your baby is sooooo big! Has she grown that much, or am I just in denial? I *love* your picture, you guys look fabulous! Omgosh, loving you so much!!

Sorry that you guys got stuck with our heat. I really am. The heat aside, I'm glad you guys had fun. The picture, loved it. She cannot be that big!

Door to door anything is ick in heat. I feel sorry for those girls. Oooo horses! It's been *counts and gasps* more than 20 years since I've ridden a horse.

We had 11 days of 100+ weather in San Jose. They tell us it only happens every 50 years. Thank the gods. But then the weatherman said it was gonna head east, so I'm thinking you got the hot weather we had last week and the week before.

I cannot wait until it gets cold and rains.

That sounds like such a nice time. I love your family's portrait. I hope you get to ride horses the next time.

It's just too hot to do anything; it sounds like.

Great family picture - you all look very period, but I think Cat in particular looks like he belongs there!

What is skeeball??

It's all cold here. :( I blame the people who complained too much about the heat last week when it was being nice and non-rainy for once. (Australian comic I saw earlier this year: "Uh, England? It's not a heat wave. It's called the SUN.")

That old-timey picture is great! Love the dress-up clothes, I bet they were fun to wear for all of about 10 minutes, right?

Monstrous Bebe's legs look so long in the picture with Levi the Horse, oh, she is growing so big.

We once had a very earnest environmentalist come to the door to ask for money for a very worthy cause in heat just like this. I felt so, so sorry for him and gave him a drink of ice water -- the sweat was just rolling off him and he looked about ready to faint. I would have been horrified to see kids doing that sort of thing.

Excellent vintage photo of you guys! Very cool.

I hate to say it, but I'm running my space heater in my office. Because apparently we live in the one part of the continent that isn't currently melting into its own lap.

I am indeed. But we have microclimates here. ;)

Oh, man! I love the picture! I did that once with the ex, and, uh, left it on the wall for him when I vacated the house. We didn't look as realistic as you guys!

I like the school marm picture. Very nice family -- and here I thought of all of you as so modern too. :-)

You're in Missouri?!? I live about an hour away from LofO and yes, it's hotter than hell here right now.

Great photo - Monstrous looks like Summer Glau!

We used to go to the Lake every summer. We always stayed at the Knotty Pine. My dad's oldest brother is retired and has a house there now.So now when we go we stay with him. And this is a weird coincidence (at least in my brain) because two weeks ago we had a family reunion and I was discussing my tatoo with him and my cousin. She's always wanted one, but, like me, wanted to wait until she knew what she wanted. And I think she's down at the lake this week.

And I know about those roads. Bleh. But, horses!
