...'cause sometimes you just need what you need.
And driving down my street i have to go about five miles a hour because it's bunny season and there are RABBITS all over the place. LITTLE rabbits, about two months old or so, maybe. They're running and hopping like crazed things all over the yards and the street and you have to be careful 'cause sometimes they get to the verge and then dart back across the street.
But they're so cute!
And then i get out to the main road, and turn, and drive half a minute and there's a deer, so i slow way down, 'cause they do the same cross-and-dart-back thing. And there's this thing on the right-hand verge and i'm thinking...'is that a dog? what the hell?' and it's a FAWN. A fawn so new it still has dapples on it's body and can barely walk and it's in the middle of the street, and it's bleeting like a little sheep. So i just stop my car and watch. And damnit, it does that thing! It's in the middle of the street and it's turning around and so confused, and mommadeer is on the verge and still going. So i get out of my car and try to sort of shoo the fawn, because traffic goes kinda fast on that street and i don't want it to get squished. And i'm not sure how agressive momma deer are, so i don't want to be trampled. But the fawn wobbles the wrong way so finally i just get up to it and grab it and carry it superfast to the verge where momma is. And it's like holding a thin, very strong CAT and it's bleeting and moving and it's fur is super-soft and a little damp and finally it's in the grass and then finally they're gone.
And i go to the horrible, horrible 'chain discount store' for my late-night protein and carbonated beverage fix with the hugest, most stupid grin on my face because...the rabbits and the fawn and the moon was full last night and it was all glowing soft in this fuzzy halo of clouds and the crickets... It was just...
Good.
And i'm sure that that fawn will creep into a fic of mine at some point.
:)

No running down of bunnies, fawns, or other wild life. I have actually run over two animals in my driving career and both times i cried. It was horrible.
So, there, ruined my cold-hearted bitch rep.
