Yay, recs! I always love to see this in other journals...

First up, a dark and twisted, angsty and just *pretty* little fic. Goes utterly AU after Buffy gets brought back from the dead. You will love [livejournal.com profile] globalfruitbat's Driving in Cars.
Truuuuuust me. Read. FB.

Next, the ever-spiffy [livejournal.com profile] reremouse is *killing me ded* with two fics. Well, all fics, but these two are new and uber. First, we have 200 Years, a completely *different* Spander. Oh, so different, and funny, and sexy. Yis.
Then, Comment Pr0n!. Well, okay, not exactly pr0n *yet*. Xander in Vietnam, Spike in Vietnam... All with that special 'mouse sensibility we've grown to know and love. It's birthday-fic for [livejournal.com profile] savoytruffle. Can you see how green with envy i am? Not only for the b-day fic, but for the *talent*. Yeeesh. Someday...
*hugs self*
Go! Read! FB!

I know i had more. Damnit. *sulks* If any of *you* have recs, put 'em in the comments! Recs are good.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] pretties_4u and i decided to host Traveling Spike! He's here right now! Hanging out on my desk with my other desk...things! He's articulated, but in a weird way! Tomorrow, he goes to hang out at the tattoo shop! Pictures and suchlike to follow. Consider hosting yourself! It's for a good cause - charity donations and you get your *own* Spike for a few days. Wheeeeeee!!

In other babble...hrmmmmm...has anyone else seen those commercials for Carnival cruises where a cruise is touted as OMG! THE BEST XMAS GIFT EVOR AND EVOR!! I find those commercials offensive, considering a lot of folk in the US are going to have a hell of a time heating their fucking *houses* this xmas, much less handing out thousands of dollars in cruise-line tickets. Jayzus fucking Christ.

*sigh*
Anyway - it's been dipping below freezing this past week, which is awesome. Now i want snow!! Yiss! And, i lurve my flist. Just so you know. :)

Heating a house? Some of my friends will be happy if they can get all their walls back up. Luckily they have a roof. It may be blue, but it's there. We're thinking the blue roofs are going to catch on elsewhere. It's pretty eye-catching.

I'm just glad we have pretty mild winters down here. Entergy said 29 days to get to the areas in Lakeview that weren't devastated. Still not sure about the gas...

But, hey, we're getting things cleaned up and patched up and the fruit biscuits in the British MRE's are actually pretty tasty.

And yes, I hate those cruise ship commercials too. Especially since some government workers are having to *live* in them. I'm thinking those tiny cabins might be okay for a week long cruise, but after a while it might start to get a little old.

end rant/

Sorry. Cost of fuel is a touchy subject down here right now.

flitting through. My rec is an excellent WIP being written for nano - Xander crossed with Firefly. Obviously familiarity with that show would be most helpful. Her concept is intriguing and Xander in a future setting, given the circumstances, is so right. Usually updated daily, often multiple parts in a day. A slow build but so very worth it.

Posting in her nano-specific journal, "no 'ships but the ones that are already there, and not going into them deeply".

well crossovers are easy to find - truly good crossovers are a bit more elusive.

If you check it out I hope you like it.

Traveling Spike -- what a great idea! Looking forward to your pictures!

The cruise-as-Christmas-gift idea reminds me of the famous Neiman Marcus catalogs, which used to offer annual his-and-her Christmas gifts that were always outrageously extravagant. I wonder if they still do that? I seem to recall things such as miniature submarines...
