Really. No, no really.
:)

It's finally gotten COLD here again, which is so very, very nice. We got the merest dusting of snow a couple of days ago, and then about an inch tonight of wetter stuff. Not nearly enough, and especially for here, but at least the thermometer is below freezing, which is a relief considering i had a mosquito in here a couple weeks ago. Damn things.

Cold, though, means something else. It means my skin is dry, which means my HANDS hurt. The tips chap and split and bleed, and they catch on everything. Makes typing an exercise in masochism. Also? My joints hurt in my hands. *sigh*

But hey! Life goes on. Superglue to the rescue! *to glue the splits shut* I seem to wash my hands fifty times a day, so lotion just doesn't stay on.

And my flist! It's acting so damn weird. Seems like i can check every ten minutes and i'm at skip 80 all the time to catch up!! It's insane.
So - if you write, and i normally comment, and i haven't?? Link me, 'cause it means i missed it.
K?
K.

Also - welcome!! To all the people who've been friending me just lately. Nice to meet you!

One last thing. I was invited to join [livejournal.com profile] the_shag_pile and am signed on as [livejournal.com profile] behr_naked. Heh. So - read, have fun!

*yawn*
I think i need a break. Or a drink...cran-grape, yummm.

Hee! Yay for !snow. Mosquito? *cringe* hate those little things!

A friend of mine has the same sort of issue with her hands - she's a librarian and the books dry out her hand like nobody's business. She's the same with washing her hands too. Next time I talk to her, I'll remember to ask what she uses - some over-the-counter stuff that really helps.

Yum, cran-grape? *holds out sippy cup*

Almond oil with a drop of whatever you like to smell in it. The cinnamon and clove has been nice and warming though. I have my car back, finally today. If I actually get to the city tomorrow, I could get a tiny glass bottle and dump some oils in to send you, if you'd like.

Hi! ::waves:: I've had v. good luck with Jergens brand "extra-dry-skin" formula (or somesuch name like that) The scent isn't too god-awful-smelly, it absorbs well, and really does tend to stay in/on the skin for hours and hours. Of course, since you wash a lot, you'll need to re-apply a bit more often, but like I said - it absorbs really well, you're not walking around with greasy-hands for long stretches of time.

We've been alternating (and rather quickly) here between bitter dry cold, heavy snows, and 45-degree days.... Winter in Chicago this year has gotten a bit confusing! :)

Tell me about it! And now the whole icesicles of doom scare downtown *cringe*.

Oh, right. It's really hilarious not funny at all. The skyscrapers down in the city all got icesicles from the storm, right?

Well, now they're coming down and clocking people. Three or four have been rushed to the hospital because of serious injury, but mostly people just kind of go "ow".

Death by ice = not fun.

Haven't watched the news since the story first broke, but it wouldn't suprise me if someone has. Needless to say, my ass is staying away from the business district *nods*.

Hee! I got invited to TSP too, I just don't know who I'd be or if I could tag. I'm still trying to make up my mind. *g*

Good luck!

Poor fingers! ::shudders::

A bit of possibly helpful advice? There is a product out called LOTIL, which is absolutely wonderful for those splits. No super glue needed, and it doesn't 'disappear' like lotion does. We've been using it on my daughters hands for years for the same thing. I"m not sure if its available at the store, but you can get it online from "The Vermont Country Store" one jar will last you a long long time.

I have sympathy for the fingertip split problem, I have the same thing every winter. I use Aquaphor for my hands (which will stay on no matter how much you wash your hands), and sometimes Bag Balm (that stuff that is used for cow udders, no joke!). But Bag Balm smells bad and is greasy, so I only use it for a last resort. If I put on Aquaphor or Avon's Moisture Therapy (a lightweight version of the same thing) regularly then I don't have to resort to the Bag Balm.

I doubt it will help your hands, but someone with dry skin and living in a snowy climate has just been extolling the wonders of this product to me:

And it has a wonderful name!
