Well, i thought i'd put it up early since i had a couple of late weeks.
But First!

Let me rec you something truly divine. [livejournal.com profile] caoilainn and [livejournal.com profile] sottovoce10 wrote White Nights and Vampire Tales.

An absolutely beautiful, lyrical character study of the Fanged Four, Angelus and William-centric, and from William's POV. Set in St. Petersburg in 1883 and full of lovely period detail, and with a William-voice that is spot-on. Surprising, sexy, fun, clever - you must read!

Now then. :)

Chapter 31: Coping. Enjoy!

*shivers*
Good chapter! How much do I love your Dru? So, so much. Loved this bit:
Utterly unlike Spike, and somehow exactly like him
Dunno why, that just struck me as so like Dru.

Anywhoo, I definitely don't like the sound of this:
You, mind your book and mind your heart and take the Slayer's skin when you're called to go riding. That's the only way you'll see your love again.
See there's a reason why people don't trust the sidhe. I knew they weren't being straight from the beginning. And now it's all gonna go arse over tit.

I'll put up with the angst and pain, but I better get my Spike back!!!

Great Drusilla stuff, scarey as hell "I've killed my Christmas wren"...

Worried about what she's said but trusting you to bring it round straight and true.

Julia, and thank for the recs, since I'm reading until the guilt of not writing real world stuff passes

Sounds like Drusilla's giving Xander a hint that getting Spike back won't be easy. Not that we expected it to be, given your devious mind! :-)

Sings in a bad impression of Andrew and Co. in "storyteller"
"I love this verse!"

I truly do love your Dru, though she scares me silly when she does this. Now I'll be worrying all week that Xander's going to have trouble getting Spike back. Waaaaaaaaah! *g*

You just love making me cry, don't you?

Gods this is good, can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Sunday, December 12th, 2004 03:34 am (UTC)
mind your heart and take the Slayer's skin when you're called to go riding. hmmm... interesting. so xander builds his nest up high so that it will be cozy and warm when spike and tara come home to roost. beautiful again.

'take the Slayer's skin when you're called to go riding. That's the only way you'll see your love again.'

Dear sweet heaven--it's Tam Lin. You *are* devious!

Eeeeh! That was ... whoa!

::skin creeps from the atmosphere Dru brought with her::

This was a really wonderful and suspenseful and creepy way of showing us the slow but inevitable passage of time as the family waits for the year to pass. I was almost starting to hope that this chapter would encompass the entire year of waiting, until Dru showed up. And speaking of Dru~

"slayer's skin" Oh! I get it. It's [spoiler], isn't it? Huh. *brrr*

And the rest ... oh, remember Dru's words, children, she's a Seer and her "visions", though they're spoken with madness, are *important*. Well, parts of what she sez is important. Part is gibberish. Knowing which is which is the trick, eh?

Ugh. *collapses*

Running out of things to say, bay-bee. What else is there to say but "yip!".

in other words, another splendid chapter, love.

Oh, baby! That was spectacular! Dru-- oh my god! You do her so well! Fabulous. And the pain of being separated from Spike is just overwhelming and it's so real. *sniff* Yer killing me!And this line: "Does it hurt, to cry that bone cup full of tears?" is so beautiful. Oh, I wish I was that good.
Dru, Dru! I only love your Dru. Thank you for a great episode- I'm counting with poor Xander. *kiss*

::sigh:: I know my feeback sucks these past couple of chapters but it's only cause they hurt. Which is good inasmuch as it's your writing that does it. Hurry up and write more please? I want Spike back. I miss him.
Sunday, December 12th, 2004 10:45 am (UTC)
That was wonderful -the way you showed Xander and everyone trying to cope, the way the time was passing and Xander was marking off Spike's time - almost a feeling of things becoming normal again. Then Dru!, totally not normal but scary and creepy and now I'm all worried that Spike's return is not going to be straightforward. As always, desperate to read the next bit. Thank you.
Sunday, December 12th, 2004 12:29 pm (UTC)
WOW, wonderful chapter! I love your Dru. It looks like it won`t be easy for Xander to get *his* Spike back.
Sunday, December 12th, 2004 02:19 pm (UTC)
Lovely and haunting as ususally - except of course now I want to more about Drusilla's man. She does know hang out with the best. Cindy Lee

*gah*
Every week I sit here in a daze, drwn deeply into your vision of the boys. This was so tender and bittersweet. Xander counting the years in the weeks that go by and waiting.

*smooches you*
Another wonderful chapter.

This story is absolutely amazing. It's beautifully written and takes you into twisted plot that has you on the edge of your seat waiting impatiently for the next update. Heart wrenching, not only because the heart ache of each character is so wonderfully portrayed, but also the characters have been so thoroughly fleshed out that they are familiar and oh so real. I always read this alone because I don't know when I'm going to let out little whimpers as I'm reading. I have no idea what to do with this emotional state you and a couple of other authors put me in, giving me gorgeous angst, and tugging at my heartstrings.
Sunday, December 12th, 2004 11:01 pm (UTC)
You do Dru beautifully. Xander's going to have to go and get him isn't he?
Monday, December 13th, 2004 12:14 am (UTC)
As I opened the file, I thought, "I wonder what Dru's response to the tithe would be ..." I swear I didn't know she was going to show up. But, goddess, they've pissed off Dru. I don't recognize Sinjin, but I imagine we'll be seeing him again.

The bit with Xander hanging up the duster hurt. But he's managing. I wonder where Spike will return to?

(blows nose again but rejoices that Tabaqui is infinitely more productive than I)
