*sooper-sekrit message: Spike, telling Jack about them blowing up the school! Hee!*
Anyway.
1. What's the favorite story you've ever written and why?
That would have to be Letters. I wrote it fairly quickly - it just came tumbling out, the images of that Spike, going off to the jungles to get peace with the demon and himself, writing letters, being so lonely... And that Xander, off to do whatever he had to to, getting to a place of quiet and peace... I dunno. It has some of my best word-images, i think, and it just felt so GOOD, writing that.
I'm also very proud of Changes, mostly because i was pretty sure that was going to be about twenty chapters or less, and now, a year later, i'm still doing it and doing it pretty well. *hugs accomplished feeling to chest and cuddles it*
2. What questions are you most frequently asked?
"When are you gonna post more of that?!"
Ack! Hehe. Soooooon!!
3. What're your thoughts on betas?
I love beta's. I think everyone should have one, or two! A adore my beta, Edibbea. She's been wonderful. There's nothing like a totally unbiased eye to look over your prose and smack it down a little! Plus, the comma thing. :)
Beta's are our friends!
4. How important is canon?
I think canon is important if you're writing a story that HINGES on it. So know your canon if you're gonna use it!! But since any slash pairing is basically AU if you go STRICTLY by canon, i say write the story and don't worry about it. Canon is a guidline, not a rule!
4. What're your fanfic pet peeves?
Biggest one? Oh, so big.
Spike? Is not Eliza Doolittle. He does not drop his 'h's. He does not say 'urt, 'ave, 'urry, etc. He did not model his accent on some Cockney guy, but on some North London guy. So put the h's back!! Hurt! Have! Hurry! Also? Please strike the words 'cor' and 'blimey' from your minds and never, ever use them again.
I also really dislike the bashing of characters to the point where it's just ridiculous. Buffy as Psycho-bitch-killer who'll stab Xander with knives and try to dust Spike for kissing each other!! So not happening. Hate the character if you must, but find a legit way to make them the 'bad guy'. Total personality re-constructs are annoying and make me hit the little 'x' up in the corner FAST.
6. What's your favorite story you've ever read and why?
Wow. That's about impossible to say. I cut my teeth on the BtVS fandom with Te's Post Grad and i despair of ever writing a Spike as totally amazing as hers...and a Xander as complex and dark.
But Kyrieane's To Break, To Mend makes me cry and laugh and whimper...Such lovely, lovely words.

7. What quote applies most to you and why?
Umm. Sheesh. No clue. I have a favorite quote or two, but they have nothing to do with ME.
8. Do you outline/brainstorm?
Well, i guess no. I get an idea - usually i get a thirty-second flash in my brain, a 'movie' if you will, of so-and-so and so-and-so doing something, saying something. I see the look, the movements, the 'tone', the body language. Then i have to WRITE that scene. That leads to lots and lots of backstory which may or may not ever make it onto a regular posting. But i'm funny in that i have to figure out HOW somebody got there and then write something UP TO that point before i can actually write the scene. Unless the scene is the START. Heh. I also just get bits of dialogue or descriptive prose in my head that i have to fit back and future story around, to explain WHY. I tend to just type it all straight into a .doc file, but i've done longhand plenty of times when i'm not able to do the typing thing.
9. Computer or pen and paper?
See above. I love both. I'm a school-supplies junkie so i've got tons of stuff lying around, but typing is easier anymore, since my fingers are all...funny. Not arthritis, just...sore. Whatever. Plus my handwriting has degenerated over the years. It's gods' awful, anymore, to the point where i almost can't read it.
I lurve my ergonomic keyboard.
10. What's your muse's name and favorite temptation to be creative?
Heh. Generally my muse is in the form of whomever i'm writing, and they/he/she stand behind me and whisper it all into my ear - or make snarky comments while grocery shopping, and believe me, bursting into hysterical giggles while contemplating breakfast cereal does NOT endear you to the local minimum-wage slaveys.
However, most of the time my muse is my beloved Raphiel, who's languishing away over in Original Fiction, impatient for me to finish 'Changes' and get back to HIM. He's been my constant companion for 20 years, and has never steered me wrong.

No no, dear, it's PERFECTLY all right.
It's fun to get 'Spike opinion' and 'Xander opinion' on things sometimes, although, like i said - manic giggling SO not helping.
*bounce*
OH, and - WHELP!
Hate, hate, hate that word.

this is how it works for me, too, *exactly*. and if i try to cheat and just write up the flash-cut that i have, there will never be any more of that story. it's like getting to write out that shot of inspiration is the carrot that gets you through the tough plot-exposition part.

I've discovered that same thing - writing just that scene pretty much ruins it. I've ALSO discovered that if i don't put any effort at ALL into making the story go PAST that scene, the muse'll pretty much yank all inspiration.
So i have to be mindful of 'what happened next' when i get some lovely little mtv-style bit of Spike and Xander.
:)
Backstory is so much fun, but resolution and endings can be SO hard.
