Heee! Via a cache of stolen magical items, the boys find a thing that will give you your 'heart's desire', and when Dean uses it to try and remove Michael from his head, he instead brings his Dad back. JOHN WINCHESTER, IN THE BUNKER!!!
Holy gods, he looks good, too. :D The episode was full of gorgeous, emotional moments (Mary and John seeing each other for the first time, holy fuck, Sam and John forgiving each other.....)
And when it was realized that having John there was causing all kinds of havoc, they realized they had to destroy the item and send him 'back' (John was the John of 'Sam's just left to go to college' time, 2002), and that if he stayed, Mary would just fade away, he of course said he must be sent away. He wouldn't remember anything - they would.
The final scene - he wakes up, having been sleeping in the Impala, and picks up his flip-phone to answer a call from Dean. He says he had the most wonderful dream.....

Emma and I stalled out at the end of season 9, I think. I'm kinda hoping this summer to start picking it back up. This is a good incentive!
