Independence Day...and eggs!

Well, it's been a little since my last post - i felt like i ran out of 'stuff', or at least stuff that was marginally interesting. I may still be out, heh.

Anyway - so far as Julys go, this one has been delightful so far. Cool and breezy and sunny, but no real heat. No aircon! Open windows! It's lovely.

So, my mother in law has chickens. And ducks. And goats, and sheep and dogs and probably a pig or two, soon, and a greenhouse and gardens.... She's a bit nutty, what with the acquiring of animals and all. But she did give me these lovely green eggs, from the 'Easter' chickens.






And no, the eggs themselves aren't green. She also gave me duck eggs, some of which I age with dill and celery salt. They're very *eggy*. They do better for baking, really, so I made banana bread. Two eggs with double yolks! Fun times.

Today's the fourth, of course. I've never been a 'flag waving' type, and the fourth isn't a big deal to me. Don't get me wrong, i'm pleased to have independence, but...eh. I don't get all worked up. We're not even doing fireworks this year, and the Bebe is off with friends having them at their house.

However, in deference to the day, i'm using my Captain America cup to drink my water. :)





So there's my fourth! Now back to the fic i must finish. How are you all? :)

Aren't they pretty? Apparently some hens lay pink and some blue, too.

Yes! One of my few 'fannish' things. I also have a Hawkeye cup. :)

I did not know this. Mostly I've seen white, grey and brown and now I so want green and pink and blue. Do they taste different too?

I approve of your Hawkeye cup, I have an Iron Man and want a Thor one but I have yet to get that one.

Sadly, they taste like eggs. But they are so fun. :)

I want an Iron Man, too, but the way they did the cups, they put the superhero ones out first, in this big bin, and then kept adding others, like Disney stuff and pop groups and now the superhero ones are literally buried under three feet of other stuff so.....

Bebe has Thor, and Batman, heh.

Yay for Easter Eggers: I have three EEs (Tertia, Quinta, and Ginjur) and an Ameraucana/Australorp cross named Bluebell; all but Ginjur lay green eggs.

The shells are so very pretty, and they're my most dependable and least demanding laying hens.

Julia, who needs to take some time to make an actua post, but am currently run off my feet taking care of animals...
