WOW, how is it June already? Insanity.
Well, at the gentle encouragement of
ravurian (and the surprise!leaping-in of
emeraldsedai, I am going to try to post once a day. Or at least several times a week.
Just so you know.
So in my last post, I mentioned the Monstrous Bebe's trip to Florida!
She got back Thursday evening, and unpacked, and didn't stop talking for about the next four hours. :) She had a wonderful time, and didn't even get sunburned! Now, she's had a boyfriend for about two years, and for about...eighteen months of that time he's lived in Alabama. His cousin was graduating, and the family took a trip to see him.
He *thought* he would miss the Bebe, but he didn't - he conspired with her friends (and messaged Cat) about 'accidentally' meeting up with her at Epcot. And he did. And she was over the moon. The pictures of the two of them...she has the *biggest* smile. :)
So that was neat. Also, she got me a stuffed Cheshire Cat, and her dad a Kennedy Space Center coffee mug. :) And she returned home with money! She didn't spend it all. Very spiffy, i thought.
She also said that nobody knew who Shere Kahn was. WTH, Disney employees?
Question for the flist! Does anyone know what this flower/plant is? It's growing Snow's little garden-pond thing. Iris has been suggested, but that's the wrong shape for an iris. I thought a flag, but...again, wrong shape. Ideas?

ETA: OH AND!! Sheesh, totally forgot to say - 'Reveille' was nominated at the Sunny D Awards! Thank you so much, my nominator. Go look - i have no doubt there are dozens of excellent fics over there. :)

And WTH is up with Disney peeps not knowing who Shere Khan is?? *boggles*
no subject
Well, the plant is *in* the water, roots and everything. I looked at lilies, too, but the water ones all seem to have that 'classic' water lily construction of many pointy petals, you know?
I could not find one that had this cup shape.

As for the plant, I'm pretty sure it's a water iris.

Well - see, maybe? But none of those flowers look like this* one. I mean - they all seem to have that narrow, ruffled petal of an iris, where some curl out and down, and some go up.
This one is all up and out, like a star-shaped cup. I just DO NOT KNOW.
*flails*
And see, if i don't know, it drives me nuts.

It's possible, but....
Googling 'purple flag iris' gets me lots of pictures of *iris* looking plants.
And googling 'blue flag', which is what this .jpg is named, also gets lots of iris-looking flowers.
So i don't know! Snow says maybe, but...not quite. Sheesh! Who'da thunk this would be so hard?

I am glad the Bebe had so much fun! Cool move by the boyfriend too! He sounds like good people.
She also said that nobody knew who Shere Kahn was.
O.O Seriously?! The Hell???

Yeah, he's a good kid. It's awfully restful, having a sixteen year old whose boyfriend lives in another state. :)
Yeah, that's close - i'll have to see what Snow says. You'd think it would be easy!

It's been weird and sort of disquieting, how 'not in the mood' or whatever i've been for posting.
A lot of it was the fact that i couldn't finish the charity fic, and i felt guilty posting when i didn't have *it* to post.
I still need to finish another, but i feel a lot more confident about it now.

Unfortunately I have no idea what the plant it but it is pretty.
And they did not know who Shere Kahn was, seriously? But glad she's home and you can relax again.
Aww, cute doggie being all happy and playful and cute.

Yes, it is! I do love flowers of all kinds.....
Inorite?!! I mean, come on! Shere Kahn!!
She luffs to rollrollroll.

There should be -- maybe there is -- a site where you can post pictures of plants or animal tracks or mysterious things you find rusting away in the toolbox and get people to tell you what the heck they are.
Which is to say I don't know what those flowers are, but they're pretty.

Very happy dog! :)

The trip sound like so much fun! And yay for the surprise meeting.
Disney people should get paid to watch the movies. And some Buffy and SPN, while they're at it - everyone should watch that!

That was one of those trips that you get lucky to do - i'm glad she got to go! However nerve-wracking it was for me, heh.
I shudder to think of what Disney would do to Buffy.... :)
no subject
Me too! Hadn't considered that.
She'll have huge blue eyes, say things like "I'm not a prize for you to win!", and get saved by guys anyway. Oh, and when Angel goes vamp for the first time, she'll do that hesitant hand laying on the ridges of his vampface, like every Disney princess ever. Xander, Giles and Willow will translate very easily, though.

I'm really glad that you're going to join us in this post-a-day thing. It's lifted my spirits already, just by seeing the counter on my inbox click up a little. People are hungry for conversation and contact, I think. Don't you?
(PS Honestly, people these days. Who the hell doesn't know who Shere Khan is?!)

We are mid-week of a week of storms and rain and overcast, so right now the yard is a soggy mess. Rolling will have to be curtailed.
I think you're right. People - especially people whose only social outlet is online - do need some kind of contact outside of purely fannish stuff.
And yes - it's fun to see my inbox having more than political stuff in it.
(People are sadly lacking. I can't remember the last time i met someone who had *read* The Jungle Books....)

I know! Half the year gone. Just...wow.
