Christ, it's hot. Hot and humid and *horrible*. I have our ac set at eighty and it hasn't stopped running for *weeks*. Jayzus. How i loathe summer.

Anyway - lj is being weird for me still, not loading, half-loading, and making commenting a real chore, so my apologies to all and sundry, I have not been commenting like i'd like to.

School here starts the 18th of August and the whole mechanism is slowly gearing up to full speed. The Bebe needs clothes, and omg, she likes expensive clothes and/or stuff that ships from the UK. Jayzus. Let's go shop at the Hong Kong import site where most everything is three bucks, okay?
*clutches wallet*

She's been doing Color Guard practice in this horrible heat, but she loves it. Next week is Band Camp, which isn't actually camp, but a week of practicing with the band. Seven a.m. until 11, and then again from six to nine. Yeesh. Plus, in there, enrollment, freshman orientation, a physical, school supplies shopping, and my second surgery.* Dear gods.

ALSO ALSO - the Time magazine came! But i need a mailing address? PM me or email me, kk? :)

Mostly i'm just waiting for summer to be *over*, and hoping this autumn/winter will be good ones. *smishes you all*

*more on that in another post, later. :)

I live in the mid-western part of Missouri and for the last three weeks, the daytime temp hasn't been below 95 (usually 98+) with the heat index over 105. We're supposed be in the low 90's tomorrow, but 101 for the rest of the week. I usually love the heat, but it's been too much this summer. My community is made up of farmers and all of their crops have burned up. It's looking really bad for everyone right now.
I feel your school shopping pain. My middle daughter will also be a freshman and plays volleyball which means not only tennis shoes for school, but tennis shoes for volleyball. Luckily, my 8-year-old daughter couldn't care less about being fashionable yet, so we just need a few pairs of shorts and a few shirts and she'll be good to go. Good luck with everything.

Oh wow! Why did I think you lived around Seattle? I live in a little tiny town called Appleton City. It's almost exactly between Springfield and Kansas City on 52 highway. That's crazy! It's been lightning and thundering for an hour now and I watched a big blob of rain on the radar get smaller and smaller until it disappeared right before it got to us. We got enough rain to wet the streets and that's it. I think everyone's corn crop will be a loss this year.
Tabitha is tall and skinny and she grows out of jeans almost as fast as we buy them. Plus, she'll be playing HS vball this year and they have many, many more away games than JH did, which means she'll need many, many more dressy outfits. I'm not really one who cares too much about having money, except when I want my kids to have nice things. My older daughter and step-daughter weren't as active in school as she is, so we didn't have to worry about them as much. I don't know how we're gonna do it.

I'm amazed that we live so close. Yes, definitely the boondocks LOL There is less than 1300 people in my entire town. The closest Wal-Mart and McDonald's are 1/2 hour away. I don't know how we manage *grin*
Tabitha is also in band like your daughter, but thankfully, they don't do much traveling. They just perform at home games and then contest in the springtime. They don't even have band uniforms anymore like they did when I was in school. We go back on the 17th, but I'm an aide in the high school special ed department, so I go back on the 15th. Blah, so not ready for break to be over.

Surgery ?????!!!!! You are not allowed to be ill, madam. That's simply all there is to it.

re: LJ, apparently there have been some major league denial of service attacks in the last week or so. Which sucks because LJ is my major source for fic recs.

I sticker shock with my electric bill for June - over $200. I'm sure July is going to be just as bad, though. It's freakin' roasty toasty down here.

OMG. I loved Color Guard. It totally eff'd up my wrist AND I broke my big toe when I attempted a quad toss with a rifle and it landed butt first when I missed. *facepalm* But oh. I loved it. I still grab a flag or rifle to twirl when I get stressed, haha.

OH man. *sigh* Band camp...gearing up for performance season - marching out patterns and choreographing routines...so FUN!

School shopping reminds me of that staples commercial: IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!!! They parents are SOOOO glad kids are heading back to school. LOL. Have fun!

Sent you a PM - thanks for that!
I hope your surgery goes smoothly.
Clothes?
Most of mine came from jumble sales as a kid - when I got fed up with my mum buying my clothes (12), I got a Saturday job!

I CANNOT believe the Bebe is going to be a freshman. Wow. Sounds like she's jumping in with both feet first - always good to be involved in something.

I was a band geek. Hope she loves it as much as I did!

Good luck with the surgery!
