Wheeeeeee! Prop 8 in California has been declared unconstitutional and struck down. YES!!

From the final ruling: Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians.

YES, EXACTLY!

Congratulations to California, to the LBGT community at large, and for America for taking yet another step forward into the light. Thank you, Judge Walker!

*cheers*

and also- duh!
"Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights"
I believe that might be the purpose of our constitution, neh?

Why yes, yes we are. That means it really is a vast conspiracy!!! oh noes!!

and I just loved this-
the dude is running for governor, for heavens sake, and says of these *privately donated* bikes on a *privately funded* program "This is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms,"

And we all know how big the Republicans are on personal freedoms...soooo big, you can't even see them there- looks almost as if they're on the other side. As in Exhibit A, in your post.:(
yes, Insanity. How sane people can vote for these guys after hearing the stuff that comes out the smart end, I just don't know.

me too.

and, the personal freedom they worry about is obviously their innate right to control what everybody else does, says and thinks.

And you know what's really sad? i live in a primarily Republican state, and I can actually remember a time when being Republican didn't require you to be insane, completely dishonest, or living in an extreme pathological state of denial.
How does it happen so fast- should we blame the internet? the corporations? or just those pre-loaded electronic voting machines?

oh yes, god forbid you don't get your share of the pie-whether you need it or not, or even if you vomit up that slice of pie 10 minutes later- at least nobody else got it.
we hates politics, precious, yesss.

Just last month, my brother, who is a a Republican State Rep in Florida, said privately that he believes that people will look back on the GOP stance on gay marriage/rights the way they do now about segregation and racial equality and that history will not judge his party kindly on this issue. FROM HIS MOUTH TO JUDGE WALKER'S EAR. :D

I'm still surprised it got as far as it did in California. Always saw it as a forward thinking State. This is wonderful news.

When I heard this news on the radio in my car, I did whoop out loud I was so happy. Seems like the news is 90% awful, so how wonderful to get some good news for a change!

Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians.

High five to the judge that made the ruling. I saw the comments that were made about it and just wanted to hug him.

That's completely awesome. I wish the people I went to church with were of the same mind, but people are weird. And oddly hateful.

But still, I'm very happy to hear about this. Makes my heart sing just a bit. :)
