Well, not *too* pointless, heh.

This past Monday, my Mom had her left knee replaced. She had the right one done about six years ago, and the last couple years has had a *lot* of pain from her degenerating left knee. So it was about time!

On Friday i went down to where she lives to help her get home and such, but she wasn't feeling well enough to leave the hospital, and ended up not coming home until Saturday. She's doing very well, actually - stiff and sore from lying in bed for so long, and her foot is a bit swollen, but when i left Sunday she was pretty chipper.

Now she just has to endure being 'nursed' by my two brothers. Eeep! Boys are just not very good nurses.

My almost-sis-in-law also graduated from college on Friday, with a degree in Mathmatics - major - and a minor in Art. AND, my nephew graduated from High School, and is going to college in the fall. Yay! Both of them worked hard and graduated with honors, and i'm so proud of them!

Lastly - the delightful and talented [livejournal.com profile] catsbycat made art for me! Two separate gifts of art for my 'South China Sea' Vietnam AU. They're lovely and amazing and i hope everyone who liked the fic will go and see them!

Rare downtime, featuring both boys, and JT and Sarge. Scroll a bit for those two, they're at the end.

Enjoy!

Oh, good luck to your mom, and congratulate her on the end of biological failure-pain, and the bionicness of new knees!

"Now she just has to endure being 'nursed' by my two brothers. Eeep! Boys are just not very good nurses."

Eeep indeed! I watched my own brother "nursing" my poor mom-
Maybe you should remind them that scrubbing bubbles are not only just fictional characters, but their characterization on TV shows deliberately exaggerated enthusiasm? And that they probably don't need to be that hyped up?:P

PS. I'll get back to reading fic soon- I have your fairy tale open in a window even now!

" need to make the bionic-man noises around her "

gulp. Do that at a safe distance, eh?

:)

Glad to hear your mom is doing okay!

So glad your mom is doing better after her operation. Ha, I hope your brothers do an okay job of helping her out! Congrats to your graduates! And yayayayay, fanart!

Glad your mum is doing well! Sons are enthusiastic, in my experience, but a bit non-observy. Still, their hearts are in the right places.

Loved the art! And as a handy side-effect, linkage to another of your J2 AU's to read and glomp. *g*

Thank you for the pimp! It was just such an amazing story that I couldn't get the image of the boys as soldiers out of my head and simply had to give it a try. So happy that they worked for you.

And I'm intrigued to read about your mom getting a second knee replacement. We've been trying to get my dad to have one for years but he is so reluctant. Can I ask how successful it's been? And I hope she recovers quickly from this second op - even with boys as nurses :)

Best wishes to your mom for a quick recovery! These joint replacement surgeries can be such big improvements in quality of life from all the reports I've heard.

And CONGRATULATIONS to your almost-sis-in-law and nephew!! Those are big achievements. I'm especially impressed with the degree in math/art. What path will she be taking now?

Noo kitteh?!

I am good thanks, still a flake where it comes to any kind of consistency lol. Am certainly back for a bit. Recently exited my job and am in a pleasant enough limbo state for the time being...the arts are calling me, though currently it involves laying around reading :)

My regards to the rest of your lovely family! xxx

If only I could get a job laying around and reading *wistful*

Dunno about what I'm going back into next. Not the same or even similar perhaps. Right now I'm having a break to think, or will be thinking inbetween fic reading marathons...my inital thoughts though suggest I want actual no-thinking-required menial work that gives me brainspace to be differently creative. Or something. Basically, responsibility = DNW >:[

Show us the kitteh!!!

Congrats on your SiL and nephew! Math and Art? Sheesh. Her brain is still probably in floopy-ville trying to reconcile the two, lol.

Is she planning on teaching? Engineering? If so, she could probably write her own ticket.

Glad your mom's doing better, despite the man-nursing, lmao. She probably got better faster just to see the tail end of them. Guys really do make the worst nurses, sometimes.

And the fan art!!!!!

I especially loved Jensen as Captain America! CA was one of my favorite marvel heroes. I loved that he threw his shield--his America-shield--like a frisbee and totally kicked ass with it.

Oh, but the Sam-as-Lucifer, game me a shiver, and the SCS ones were so realistic and cool! How the hell? I got forced to use that program nearly daily for three years straight, and my efforts were never nearly that good. Amazing.

Now I totally wanna see a Captain America movie. I heard there was gonna be a remake. Personally, I really liked the one with Matt Salinger, but I can't wait to see what they do with the story.

Wow, how did I miss this post??
I hope your mom is better now. Recovering from surgery such as this one can take some time. I hope it's not too painful!

I am glad that she's doing ok. It's amazing that they can actually replace a knee!
