Mostly because seeing my last post every time i opened my lj was starting to get on my nerves. And thank you, everyone, for your thoughts and kind words.
*hugs flist*

First - wheeeeeeeee! Look at my house! We just did this today. Cat painted it. :)

If you want a closer 'detailed' view, go here. That's the unpainted half of the Lair.

I'm also writing, yay! and hope to have something to post in the next couple of days.
*twirls [livejournal.com profile] sweptawaybayou*

And then there's this, which i thought looked fun. And i agree with almost everything this says, except for the religious part. I'm really not a religious person *at all*. Perhaps spiritual in some ways, but...eh. But fun! Pretty, pretty art. From all over my flist...

Concientious, Fulfilled, and Spiritual

11 Renaissance, 2 Islamic, 5 Ukiyo-e, -24 Cubist, -17 Abstract and -1 Impressionist!

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence affected literature, philosopy, religion, art, politics, science, and all other aspects of intellectual enquiry. Renaissance artists looked at the human aspect of life in their art. They did not reject religion but tended to look at it in it's purest form to create visions they thought depicted the ideals of religion. Painters of this time had their own style and created works based on morality, religion, and human nature. Many of the paintings depicted what they believed to be the corrupt nature of man.

People that like Renaissance paintings like things that are more challenging. They tend to have a high emotional stability. They also tend to be more concientious then average. They have a basic understanding of human nature and therefore are not easily surprised by anything that people may do. They enjoy life and enjoy living. They are very aware of their own mortality but do not dwell on the end but what they are doing in the present. They enjoy learning, but may tend to be a bit more closed minded to new ideas as they feel that the viewpoint they have has been well researched and considered. These people are more old fashioned and not quite as progressive. They enjoy the finer things in life like comfort, a good meal, and homelife. They tend to be more spiritual or religious by nature. They are open to new aesthetic experiences.

Cool sign. It's so shiny. My Mom would get a kick out of it. She'd want one for her yard too (and better not show her or she'll be roping me into doing something for her). As always, the talent of Cat astounds me. That circle off to the left reminds me of an eye... rather like an eye to the future sort of thing or something.

Cute house too, BTW.

Gotta love the Renaissance paintings. Lovely, lovely work.

Oh, excellent sign, indeed. I've got to get a good look at sight lines so I know where to put the Obama and Gregoire signs we got yesterday- the pine trees have grown so much that my usual campaign sign places are invisible from the road.

Julia, doesn't make sense to put them where the cows are the only ones to see then, right?

Whee! New fic FTW. Can't wait.

Obama, you? Why, Tabbi, I never would have guessed! ;P

I love the sign! I know my parents would be all over a sign like that, if we could be sure that joyriding teenagers wouldn't smash it up like they kept doing to the mailbox. (But then, they live in the country. Mailbox-smashing is apparently all there is to do out there.)

And very much looking forward to new fic. Yay for writing!

That is a terrific sign, so much more of a statement than the little lawn do-dads. Nice work Cat!

OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAA!
That's kind of awesome.

And so is this!

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent

Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.

People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

that sign is AWESOME!!!!! Go you guys!

(and interesting art quiz - I think my knowledge of art actually hindered me, which is weird)

That is AWESOME! I want a giant Obama sign! I love my neighborhood because ONE neighbor has put up a McCain sign, so everyone else promptly put up their Obama signs. We're shaming them with our sea of blue.

Trust the tattoo artist to paint a bitchin' sign! I agree with [livejournal.com profile] sweptawaybayou's comment. People should be falling all over themselves to snag him. But hopefully not the sign!

and I have to say: I LOVE the color of the house! Gods, all that warm-colored stone. Does it glow during sunset/sunrise?

Yay for more writing!

that is an AWESOME sign!

hey that is awesome! way to show support.

That sign is AWESOME! What luck that you happen to have an artist in your house :)

Just make sure it meets sign codes...There's a guy in Portland who has a giant McCain sign and it survived a fire-bombing(!) a couple weeks ago. The neighbors are all Obama supporters but they support the right of this neighbor to have his dissenting opinion.

Well, someone complained to the city ordinance people (who usually move at a glacial pace) and they've told the guy that it's too big for his yard and he has to get rid of it.

Not that I'm complaining, mind you!

First of all, my belated sympathies on the loss of your much loved and beautiful cat. *hugs* We've been there and know how painful it is.

Cat is so incredibly talented! That is a great sign, really well-designed. And your house is LOVELY.
Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 09:12 pm (UTC)
Love, love, LOVE your house! And the sign. If I was allowed to vote he would have my vote for sure!
Saturday, October 25th, 2008 02:37 am (UTC)
Cat is an arteest :)

It's really pretty, and . . . I dunno. Hope-y. Anyne'd be proud to inspire something like that.

It's not easy when a pet dies. Especially when you've had them for so long.
::hugs::

But you're writing, and that's always good. Can't wait till you post.
::bounces::
::cartwheels::

And dude, your house is cool.
