Maybe this seems redundant, but... I DID vote, and i'm glad. No, 'my guy' didn't win. NONE of the people i voted for won. Right at this moment i have nothing but disgust for my state and my country.
It will pass, because hey! I don't have to wear a burka or be terrified of someone seeing my ankle of be terrified of contracting HIV/AiDS and NEVER getting treatment or living in fear of a suicide bomber getting on the bus with me or any of the hundreds of things other citizens around the world cope with every day.
But the simple fact that fear and loathing, basically, controlled the voting choice of nearly half of the voters in my country...makes me ill.
*sigh*
But i'm not giving up, and i'll vote in the meantime and i'll vote again next time around and if the Shrub can keep from doing anything too incredibly awful for the next four years i'll count my blessings.
Or, you know, maybe he'll do something really, really horrible and we can impeach him.
Either way, my friends, however dark it seems this is NOT forever. I hope that we can fight, and win, on many fronts so that the people i've gotten to know and love here don't feel that they have to literally leave this country in order to live a happy life.
As the man said: 'I am an American. I am duty-bound to make this country better.'
Fuck yeah.

And i salute the women who came before me, and fought and won my right to the vote.
