This is just stellar. Incredible writing. I'm loving every sentence. I think you're the most multisensory writer I know of - from popping vindaloos to fire-and-ice wards in doorways, it's real 3-D stuff.

I loved the bit about Spike's duster in the cellar, and Miss Manners/Marple/Moneypenny (/Marsters? Heh :) ). And the non-emergency Millennium Dome! And squid! Plus, Xander/vindaloo? OTP :)

There were one or two tiny instances where the Britishness seemed just slightly little off. Most council flats - really not very nice. A boiler is more likely than a furnace. Charing Cross Station would be called just that, without the 'the.' Spike's been in America long enough that he could easily have said/thought 'faucet', but a true Brit would call it a tap. If Elsberry is supposed to be an area in London, Miss M. would have said "the flat in Elsberry", or, if it's a street, "the flat on Elsberry Street/Road/etc." Unless of course she's American! But props on the lift, tweed, kit, and rain :)

Can't wait to see where their nocturnal stroll takes them. Write more soon? :D
