Wheeeeee!
Went down south *heh* to see the folks Thursday and finally, finally got to see Serenity! Wheeeeeeee!!
*bounces around like a freak*

Ooh, it was fun! [livejournal.com profile] pretties_4u loved it too! And he hates everything.
:)

So lemme put some possibly spoilery comments

We're up to 'The Message' - only two eps to go! *sobs* So i don't know if something monumental happens, but i was a little disappointed that the movie started with Mal and Simon at odds rather than 'crew' like he is right now. That was a bit - grrrrrr.

And not enough Book! Not enough by far. But i did love, so much...
Mal shooting the Allience crash survivor and then telling his crew he'd shoot them too. Absolute conviction, utter desperation. Beautiful.

Loved making Serenity into a reaver-ship for a little bit. Loved River's knowledge that she was crazy - and how terrified it made her. Knowledge, but she could do nothing to *fix* it.

Clever to weave the 'history' of the 'verse into the opening scene. Very clear, nice and short and to the point. I've read a couple reviews that said a non-fan would be 'lost' but - you'd have to be an idiot to be lost.

Everyone looked *fab*. Utterly fab. And i sniffled a bit, here and there. The Reaver armada was too cool - loved it when they burst through the clouds at Mr. Universes' house! Loved the panic and grim determination in the final stand-off with the Reavers - poor Kaylee! But she got a nice bit of spine-straightening when Simon confessed to 'sex'. Heeee!

Loved the little detail of Mal and others putting their weapons in a revolving lock-box and having a key-card, that was fun. All in all - adored! Sniffled! Laughed! Cheered inside! Cat and i were the only ones there - early on a Thursday - but i liked that. I like emptier theatres - it's more fun that way, to me. I really must see it again!

And a note or two on the series - naked Mal! Wheeeeeeeee!! So much fun. I think 'Out of Gas' is my favorite episode so far - i'm a totall sucker for 'how they met' stories. Kaylee! Heee!! Sufer-mechanic with tattoos! Heeeee! The little dead animal that was living in Serenity when Mal bought it! Wash's mustache! Jayne's admission of having to share a bunk with *that* guy and his ever-so-casual shooting in the leg of his ex-partner! All, all good. 'Message' made me sniffle - their friend so lost without a war to fight... The snow planet was beautiful and Book stepping up and telling the Feds what-for... Lovely stuff. Oh! And 'Jaynestown'!! You just *know* the kid that jumped in the way of the bullet joined Jayne and that blonde chick the night before. Heeee!! They were all hanging together in the bar...
*ahem*

Anyway. Must own these!

Now my *other* fangrrrl thing. I stumbled across a fun little snippet of conversation between Jim Butcher - the man who wrote The Dresden Files books - and James Marsters. Scroll down just a bit to the 'Alternate Universe/Whedonverse com report for the funny.

[livejournal.com profile] eyezrthewindows posted this, which is info and address to, basically, encourage the people who are turning the Dresden books into a film to consider Mr. Marsters for the lead of Harry Dresden, wizard. Apparently he read the books on tape and was very, very good. *I don't do books on tape - i have a hard time with that.*

*ANY*way - apparently Nicholas Cage is going to be producing that, and there's a little more info on the Butcher site about it, as well. So, yes - it would be *lovely* if Our Favorite Actor *hee* got to play this fun, intense role!

I just got my books back from my brother so i'll be re-reading them soon.

Go! Write! Petition! We can do it!

Oh! And feast your eyes on this beautiful manip by [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003: James Marsters as Harry Dresden! Yes!

*flutters off on brand new wings*

...i need a Firefly/Serenity icon...

Whooot!

Dude! I loved the mechanic with the tatts! I had to do a search on him lickity split and find out *who* he was!

So happy that you are enjoying the dvds and I too, made them last and last, since there were so few, before finally watching the last one.

I'm so glad you had a good time! Wasn't it a great movie? Wonderful wonderful... I'd love to see it again but I'll wait for the DVD, babysitters are expensive enough and there's the Narnia movie and Harry Potter and... lots to look forward to this fall.

*scrolls past the spoilers fast*

Gonna finally get a chance to see Serenity Wednesday. My oldest niece is going to hang out with my mom, so I get a break.

I've been hearing that the movie is good and intense. Nope, don't wanna know anything about it before I see it. *G*

Can't argue on your favorite parts from the series either. I loooooved Naked Mal! *G* Go back and watch the gag reel. *snickers* "How do you like that apple?" I think is the line.

What's the title of the first book of the Dresden series? I've heard mention of them on various ljs, but no one in the shop's talked about them, so I don't know where to start. Bit of help? *puppy dog eyes*

Which season is the gag reel on? It's on disk 4. Under special features.

Storm Front? Cool. There's a bookstore down the street from the shop. I'll duck in before I open today and look! *snickers* But clicking on the link last night would have required me to think. La

My niece has my copies of the dvds, but I think there's an "other" or "more" option in the extras menu. It was for their Christmas party, which turned into their wrap party. Try looking for the blooper reel. Damn, wish I had my set, I could check when I got home. Sorry.

Store here didn't have the books but they tell me their sister store has a huge sci-fi section (a whole room). This just gave me a reason to deal with crappy traffic and worse parking! *G* That is, if I can wait long enough to not stop at the B & N that's right by the house. *snickers* anyone up to betting on if I can hold out one day for a new book?

(hint: the answer to that is hell no)
