Someone, I think George Bernard Shaw, once said that America and Britain are two nations divided by a common language. *g* I don't think that's true any more, thanks to movies, TV and the 'net. I find it easier to understand a thick Texan accent than a thick Scottish one.
I'm not sure what people make of my accent. I'm Australian, my mother was too but was educated in England and my dad was from the Australian bush country. I've lived in England for over half my life and my husband is a Cockney. Aussies say I sound English and Poms say I sound Aussie. I prefer to think I'm unique. LOL.
