Yup. Doin' the pimping thing. But hey! Can't help it. When you make someone go all stalkery and funny on you, and they write you a hilarious little Spandery ficlet - what else can you do?
So hurry and read Crazy About the Boy by
sottovoce10!
Also, because it was just Eostre and pretty much spaced it to the point that the Easter Bunny left Monstrous Bebe's basked OUTSIDE... *Yes, i crouched in the carport with the basket and the bag-o-goodies, assembling her basket while pretending to take out the trash. I am lame, kill me now.*
Anyway, just for that, here's the eggs we dyed, and Monstrous and her Daddy. :)

Is that Aubrey Beardsley in the first pic? An illustration on a mirror? I have one that I got in the Lanes in Brighton lots of years ago which I must reframe and put out somewhere. Pretend it's retro when it's just stuff left over from years of.

No, it's an Alphonse Mucha. I'm very fond of Mucha, although i like Beardsley too. A friend of ours found that in a flea market or something.
I like old. Old is good. My table used to be the one in the farmhouse where my mother's mother grew up - older is BETTER!

Egg-dying is fun, especially when you accidentally crack 'em and get to eat 'em.
Heeeee.

I actually made an icon, just didn't use it.

And thank you!

You are definitely not that!
Maybe the best...

And thank you!
Doing the eggs is fun - makes me all nostolgic for my childhood!

It's a nice back yard - I wish there were no neighbors. But ah well.
There ARE lots of birds and things, though.

Thank you!
We kinda live in the woods. In front of the woods. Whatever.
Heh.
Nice woods.

Sheesh. Trying to figure out HOW to get her the basket...gah!

I always thought that it was so bizarre that virtually all of his art is advertisements. Everything from the pre-raphaelites through to Art Deco makes me a happy-happy woman.
What a gorgeous homey-looking house. For perfect home just add family:-)

Yeah. The Mucha that's my LJ wallpaper is my back tattoo - shouldes to waist.
His stuff is lovely, but yes - mostly advertisements. I liked the work he did for the Czech Republic - a kind of history of the people. Huge - i mean, bigger-than-room-size paintings and such of their fights and victories. Very cool.
But his lithographs and ads are amazing, too - all the little details.
Yes, Mucha geek!

Thank you so much!

My sister, mum and i did eggs one year super late at night while every one else was asleep. We had the 'Stigmata Egg' - a sort of grey egg with blood-red spots and drips. I have NO idea how that happened, but we laughed so hard over that egg we about choked ourselves.
Mess or fine art, egg-dying is fun.

Hey, don't feel bad about forgetting the basket, it happens to us all. Good for you for coming up with a "Mom Save Maneuver."
My little one, after having a good time going through his basket, came into the kitchen with a sad look on his face. He said, "Mommy, I think the Easter Bunny didn't bring you or Daddy anything." It didn't take long to reassure him that we were OK with this -- we had a stash of jellybeans for the grownups.

*all serious now* I have seen the face of the Virgin in a piece of lunchmeat. LOL Sorry. *g*

The 'secret' is a 'magic crayon'. Basically, it's a sort-of-clear crayon that they sell with egg dye. You write with it on the egg and then dye - where the crayon is stays white. Or, if you dyed first, say, yellow, then wrote, then dyed orange or red, you'd have yellow lines or whatever and the rest would be orange or red. You can do more lines on the orange and then dye DARKER orange or really soak it in the red and get it darker and then you've got three different colors on the egg. It's cool. you can use a white crayon, too, or use a color crayon to write a name or something and then dye the egg a contrasting color. Fun stuff.
We always get handouts from baskets or stockings. She's pretty damn generous, considering.

I loved it, too.

The table used to be in the house my mother's mother grew up in, on a farm in Wisconsin. So it DOES have a story.
*luves table*
I love old things like that - new stuff is just junk.

Yeah, fun stuff!
I think she's gonna write more.

Her Monstrousness comes out when she's contrary. And when she's tired. And when she's in a snotty mood.
Heh.
