Loved the subtlety with Fred & Tara. Nice job there. I love getting to see how the vampires react to the Potentials. And then Spike and Angel hunting? I was on the edge of my chair wondering how Angel was going to react, and you didn't disappoint. Brilliant chapter - yet again. Now. What's wrong with Spike? What was in that guy's blood? What can't he feel Xander? :::hold me?:::: Can't wait for more.
Spike really should have known better than to drink from someone who might have sampled the wares. A stoned stressed vampire is a scary thing. *g*
Loved the Tara/Fred dynamic, and Connor aiming straight for Oz as soon as he was put down. Lovely!
And Angel's reaction to the housecleaning spree, hee!
Now i'm going to worry all week until you make it better because Spike isn't a well vamp and Xander must be worrying himself silly if he's picking up anything at all from Spike.
Thank you!! *bounce bounce bounce* I'm SO glad this chapter went over so well - i was afraid there would be quibbles about what Spike said to Angel and perhaps pitchforks and torches!! Hee. Sorry you gotta wait! *toddles off to write*
Sorry it's taken me so long to review -- I'm in the middle of the overtime from hell and have to find odd moments to read fanfic.
This was lovely. This is a very intense chapter. Loved the beginning; something about the convergence of forces and the odd tensions between all of the different groups was intriguing and stormy. The 'from beneath you it devours' reference was nicely placed. I will admit to being terribly worried about Spike through most of the chapter -- all of the things he's repressing are going to cause him grief sooner or later -- but now! Drugged blood! Poor Spike! (And poor Angel, having to follow and keep him out of trouble...)
I loved Spike's talking to Angel -- Spike, even with all of the repression, seems to be a bit healthier in his way of dealing with being a vampire with a soul than Angel is. Perhaps he's given Angel something to think about -- while he follows him to keep him out of trouble!
I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. This level of intense reading really does take me away from the nastiness of overtime hell. Thank you for the lovely break!
This was such a powerful chapter and I look forward to seeing what has happened to Angel to make him so tired and heart sick. I also look forward to seeing how they break this memory drain that is affecting Spike.
I didn't appreciate Fred as a character until she became Illyria, being a Texan myself I wasn't impressed by Amy Acker as Fred, then she blew me away with the change. So, I went back and re-watched her as Fred and now I love her. Trust me, you nailed her.
I never saw Fred much - i've only seen Angel season five - but she seemed intriguing - i love a brainy chick!
And yeah, Illyria was awesome, totally cool. So yay! I'm glad i got her right, i hate to totally screw up a character, even if they won't be around long. *no, she's not going to die!!*
Oh, hey, fb is good ANYtime. :) It was SO HARD to write so many people - to keep track, to make sure they weren't just pushed aside or forgotten. And yeah, i can't IMAGINE being sensative to 'Slayerness' and living in a house full of them. Ack. Ahh!! K - i admit it reads like it, but the blood's not drugge! I'll have to fix that somehow... Grrrrrrrr. :) All will be revealed!! Hee.
Yeah, i definitely think Spike has a healthier...something. Angel is guilty for stuff that happened SO long ago - there's no point, anymore! Those people would be dead now no matter what, and he's trying to be 'good', so...live a little! Hehe. *pets you* Overtime! Ack! Hope you're done with that soon!
*rocks back and forth* Um...*cries some more* Great, simply great. Very...great. *blows nose* But not great...because we know where it's going. *cries some more*
I loved, loved, loved the intensity between Spike and Angel and just hated that it was cut short -- I wanted to see what Angel would say back to him!!! This was everything that Spike should say to Angel, and I hope it does some good. You know how much I love Angel, and want him to be happy (but of course not Perfectly Happy (tm))! Please, let us see more of him?
What a cunning way you have of dovetailing your storyline with canon where necessary; now Spike is headed towards the First in a way I don't think any of your readers could have predicted.
Thank you! I'm glad as an Angel fan you like what i'm doing. I'm not really hip to Angel but i don't want to bash or make him come off terribly badly. So, yay! :) And thank you again - cunning! I like that. I want to follow canon as closely as i can while still making it an S/X story. Some of it, of course, is just too stupid to even bother with - the jacket that makes the girls all fall in love? eccch. But some is too cool to skip. *bounce*
jeez, please, no jacket hey I never thought the blood was drugged, I thought the First is exploiting the holes in Spikes mind caused by the partial Glory brain suck, am I brilliant or what, I am sure I am reading your mind... great chapter, I want to know what is bothering Angel that Spike is picking up on, that's what I came out of the chapter with, how come no one else wants to know??? mofetash@aol.com
Hehe. A couple people want to know! I think you make two. :) And yerss, you're bril! Reading my mind! *snerk* All will be revealed! Soonish. Thanks for the fb!

Fantastic chapter. Now that everyone's in Sunnydale, I can't wait to see what you do
towith them.Although it seems like this is the First's way of playing with them, I hope Spike and Angel do find some way to reconnect and be family again.

Poor Derio. So much to have to deal with. And somewhat-poor Drake, though I bet the second word out of his mouth was "cool" after "ick."
I so hope Spike and Angel can reconcile some how. Does Angel know Spike and Xander have each others' memories?
no subject
Yeah - i tried not to make him too precious. And no damn lisping!
*ack*
Drake is my kinda guy - not afraid of the slime!
Hee.
I think Angel knows - i'm not sure, actually. No, i'll have to say...he doesn't.
