Hiya!
Okay, so - here's my favor, dear flist.
Our very dear and long-time friend, Terry Carr is a Vietnam vet, who has been in a wheelchair for 40 years. He used to do wheel chair sports, including basketball and track, and even did sharp-shooting in the paralyzed vets Olympics. The man *skied*. Holy crap. It was terrifying enough with two working legs - no way i'd do it in a chair! He also is a photographer and used to take the most amazing black and white portrait/studio pictures, until he couldn't deal with the darkroom chemicals any more.
Lately, his health has declined, and he actually had to spend this last year in bed, trying to recuperate from a very bad VA visit. He ended up with pressure sores that made it impossible for him to sit up in his chair at all.
His van, that he used to drive all over in, has been non-functioning for years and - shocker - his disability pay doesn't cover fixing it. So he entered a contest, and was selected as one of six runner-ups. Now, people must vote to choose three of the six to win a fully customized van or SUV or car. He's been hovering in fourth place, and he needs votes!
