Now, that was fun. :)
The zoo, the art museum, wandering around St. Louis trying to force the GPS to acknowledge the street we were looking for.... Wheee!
All the details....
Friday night we visited the De Mun Oyster Bar. Ooooh. So awesome. Snow was craving oysters and I wanted scollops and they were both *fantastic*. As was the duck potato salad (wee purple potatoes!!). We sat out on the patio and watched the students wander around (it was near Washington University). The whole neighborhood - once we found it - was gorgeous, the campus and the houses, so that was spiff.
It was *very hot* Saturday at the zoo, but the butterfly dome and baby elephant and sleepy hyenas made it worth it. Also, PETTING THE STINGRAYS. Omg. Of course, by mid-day, we had to go back to the hotel and collapse, but later we went out again to the Lemp Mansion, which has a reputation for being haunted. It's also *amazing*, right down to the imported Italian tub that has pride of place in the middle of the woman's restroom. Plus a fireplace. Plus twelve-foot doors and mosaic tiles and, well....yeah. :)
In honor of our hours spent watching Chef Ramsey destroy people's souls, we had beef wellington. Yum!
Sunday was stormy-looking, but no rain, and we headed to the St. Louis Art Museum for a few hours and then hit the Courtesy Diner on our way out of town. It was so VERY Sam'n'Dean, heh.
Stingrays! A butterfly! Culpeppers, where we at on zoo day. And, last but not least, me and Snow with the vista of the Grand Basin in Forest Park behind us.
One of the highlights? This car, in the parking lot of the Art Museum. We giggled liked loons, and then we had to leave a note. Snow took a picture, so...if she posts it i'll link it. :)
I now realize i need a Show sticker for my car.

the_dean_show. One of the 'Memoirs of a Muscle Car' images, I do believe. So they *must* be on LJ somewhere! :)
So that was our trip! It was a blast, we talked a lot, got a little culture, ate delicious food and just...enjoyed. Next time will be *sooner* than four years!

The Lemp Mansion sounds interesting. We'll likely be back in St. Louis at some point. I'll try to remember to check it out.

Finding fellow fans out in nature is oddly exiting. I once gave a complete stranger a huge smile because he was wearing a Sons of Anarchy T-shirt. He must have though I was weird... ;)

I'm currently observing a zeitgeist where fans want to recognize each other out in the world. The old hand signal for "live long and prosper" would do in a pinch, wouldn't it?
Yesterday I was wearing my Nyan Cat Tardis shirt (http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f36f/?srp=2) and another Who fan recognized me. I love wearing fannish clothing or jewelry so that people can recognize me as a fan. I do need to get more bumper stickers though!!
