It's raining, it's pouring.....

And it's lovely, if a bit detrimental to our basement. Ah, well. It's also rather chilly, which means i'm doing the ever-so-fashionable socks+slippers combo. Whoo!



Yesterday was a trip south-east (about forty-five minutes) to where my mom in law lives. She has a 'farm', with a number of garden plots, a greenhouse (home made), goats, chickens, guinea fowl, ducks, a lamb, and three dogs.

Two people in the family were having a birthday this month, and one person just graduated from High School, so we were having a sort of celabratory-mashup BBQ and visit. It was quite nice! Ate good food, visited with all the family, saw the nearly-100 chicks that just hatched in the last three days, and watched the cousins plus my SO and his brother play Frisbee with, like...five Frisbees. Hehe. It got *very* chilly - yay for hoodies! - and the sunset was gorgeous.

Came home with about five-dozen eggs, including a dozen green ones from the Easter chickens, and a dozen duck eggs. Can't wait to try them! Soon, i'm promised some strawberry plants. And there was no drama-llama! Always good (if not usual).

I was going to do that fic-meme-thing that trishabooms and sweptawaybayou both tagged me in, but i can't brain today.

Heeee. It's not bad if you treat it as visual media. It's there for pretty art and eye-candy, and that is *it*. You can't discuss, talk, or debate, you can only 'heart' and reblogg and move on.

Which, you know, sometimes is cool. Sometimes i *like* just looking at pictures from fuckyeahhistorycrushes and mydaguerreotypeboyfriend and spn_batcave. No brain required.

Sounds like a good time was had by all! We sometimes buy eggs from a local farm and it's so fun to open the box and see what colors we got. There are often green ones but on very lucky occasions we get some with a pale cranberry color. I wish I had more sensitive taste buds because I'm sure a more refined palate could tell them apart by taste, but I just like the pretty colors.

Heee! Oh, i should have been more clear. They're just green *shells*. Like they were dyed for Easter. The egg inside is the same color as regular eggs.

It was! We all remarked upon how nice it was that mom-in-law hadn't gone of the deep end over something, as she is wont to do.

I think the eggs being colors are *so* neat. I'm going to have to take a picture of the green ones, because the range of greens is awesome.

I dunno if they *do* taste different. I don't think so. Now the duck eggs, though - they could very well have a different flavor. Mom-in-law says no, but then...she smokes. So we shall see.

I love baby chicks, used to chase them when I was little and would try to catch them. It was a game to keep us occupied while they slaughtered the pig. My uncle lived on a ranch that still did things very rustic-like. Not much electricity was used and almost everything they ate was home grown/produced. Little city girl me would have cried when the pig was killed, lol.

The eggs sound awesome, pictures would be cool. So glad you had a good time and there was no drama. It is always great when you hang with fam/in-law fam and no drama appears. (Except when the drama doesn't involve you, is funny, and makes for a great story) ^_^

My youngest niece was there (not quite two) and she was *intent* on catching a duck. Man, did she want a duck, heh.

Well, mom-in-law. It's a bit more work than i wanna deal with on a daily basis, but she and my sis-and-law like that sort of stuff, so....
