I'm sorry if writing this was a source of stress, but the result is beyond worth it (for me, anyway -- *g*).
There's such a wonderful sense of Xander moving from one world to another, and then another still, and the connecting link of those worlds being Spike. The language and the detail are beautiful, as always (I'm partial to Xander's tattoo). And of course, Spike's care taking -- the gift giving, and the way he protects Xander, first saving his life, and then saving him through death. Two lonely men, finding their way to each other.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe you'll be compelled by the boys again in the future; but if not, this is a lovely farewell. Thank you.
