Yes. That's a classic example. I watched that at the theater when it first came out--I was 11--and I can honestly say I was terrified. And not because I was so young, but because the movie has such an atmosphere. The huge, nearly empty ship, the permeating darkness (and isolation), the brief glimpses of the alien and the gruesome death it leaves in its wake. You don't really see *what* the alien does, only the aftermath, and *that*, to me, is the perfect fodder for the most horrific nightmares. Not that I enjoy nightmares, but you know what I mean.
