I get to quote that now, 'cause i am the Ultimate Answer! Yes, i am now 42. Wheeeee! :)
Plus, i got nominated in *two* places, which is cool. My Faith/Buffy story, Into the Blue Again was nominated at both the Sunnydale Memorial Fanfic Awards and the
kinda_gay_award comm. Apparently, voting is now *open* at the SunnyD awards.
Thank you thank you, whomever nominated me, that's awesome! :)
sweptawaybayou meme'd me. Heh. It is this.... Reply to this meme and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your LJ and explain what they mean to you.
Plot: I like plot. In fact, i love it. I hate a story that has a cliched plot, or one that makes no sense, or borrows too heavily from some movie or tv show without trying for anything new. I love seeing how a basic blot can be spun into something amazing. Plot makes me nervous, as sometimes i totally lose the thread of the plot i'm writing and start wondering just how stupid and boring my story can get. Plot? Makes me happy. :) Say 'plot' five more times. Bet'cha it doesn't even sound like a word anymore!
RPS: Oh...my gods. At first, i was rather horrified by RPS. I mean - come on! It seemed so intrusive and disrespectful. Then i was lured in. Heee! I gave up on the horror when i realized that, except for the really *fannish* fan? RPS stories have *nothing* to do with the actual people. Broad strokes of 'born in Texas' or 'married to a Playboy Bunny' but otherwise? It's all wish-fulfillment and projected fantasy. So now? I'm good with it. I still get a little squicked when, for some reason, an actor i like is written as a total jerkoff, drinking, whoring, being an ass to people, being abusive, whatever. That's no fun. But make David a florist and James a dog-walker? Make the J2's rival surfers? It's all good. And, frankly - i have grown to rather love the dirtybadwrong that is fucked up, angsty, in lust-and-love boys that are a specialty of
sweptawaybayou's. Aahhh, teh angst, teh pr0n, teh pretteh! :)
Cats: What's not to love about cats! They are wonderful, wonderful beasties. They rule my house. I've never *not* had a cat for any length of time. I grew up with them, have rescued them, have had too many and not enough, have sobbed my heart out over them, and will probably die and be eaten by them. All good, i say! All good.
Bad Fic: BWAAAAAAhhahhahaha! Oh, man. Firstly, there's too much of it. Secondly, some of it is pretending to be goodfic, and wow, it makes me shake my head. Thirdly - i won't, as a rule, mock it, or point it out, or anything like that. (At least, not publicly. What happens on IM, stays on IM....) But if you put on airs, and act like a twit, and get all snippy and snarky and holier-than-thou over your badfic? I *will* be that girl with a pin. You know, from the Carpenter's song? *hums* "...What do you get when you fall in love.... A girl with a pin to burst your bubble.... That's what you get, for all your troubles...."
Best Friends: Oh, these are rare, rare things, best friends. They don't come a dime a dozen, or more than once or twice - possibly thrice - in a lifetime. I've had very few, and treasure the ones i've had - still have. Best Friends *get you*. You don't have to explain, you don't have to excuse. They get you, they call you on your shite, they tell you it's all good, they mock the mockers and they feel your pain. I am blessed with my family, because i love them, but my best friends...were *chosen*. And are that much more precious because of it. *hugs and hugs and luffs*
And that is almost that! I have, however a rec.
roxymissrose just posted the final part of her Supernatural fic Lodi. Gods. Hard-core angst, people, gorgeous and hurty and just.... Gods. Go for it, if you dare.
Oh oh!! I forgot the other thing i wanted to mention. In Fall some time, they are going to start airing the new 'Stargate:Universe' series. And i know, i know, wank galore. But i'm going to be watching because Robert Carlyle, whom i utterly adore, is going to be playing one of the main-main characters. Wheeee! RC, on my TV! :) To that end, i'm mainlining 'Stargate:Atlantis' episodes so i can be all caught up and know wth, just in case. Now i *like* SG:A, and have enjoyed fic and such, but never really *watched*.... Now, thanks to
darkhavens being there for my IM squees, and plying me with omgtons! of fic, i am just.... Well, I'm happily wallowing. I doubt i'll write anything, even though i love sci-fi, but man, i'm having fun. :)

It was saturday, but we didn't eat my 'no cook b-day dinner' or have any pressie-opening until sunday, so it was kind of a whole weekend of celebrating. :)

I'm also going to be watching SGU. It might be awful but I'm not going to let my disappointment over the cancellation of SGA stop me from giving it a chance.

Yeah, i know a lot of people are really unhappy about SG:A being canceled, but i hope the new one is given half a chance. By the fans *and* the writers.

Not that you need awards to tell you how great you are!

It's rather nice to get a nomination, though.

I love getting to experience people's first time reactions to eps. They remind me why I love the show, and reinforces my glee. :D

And ooooh! In 4x09, John truly wears his heart on his sleeve and proves his luff for Rodney in the most O.O of ways. *bounces*

SGA is not too bad, but I confess, I liked SG1 better, even if SGA's writing was better. (SGA grrrr-- will always be the fandom that ate mine whole in my bitter thoughts)
*HUG* And oy--thanks a million times for the rec! *be all bubbly and annoyingly happy!*

Bobby Carlyle is a dream. :)
I know there's so much angst and such over SG:A but i'm just....*enjoying* myself. It's a pity, yes, that a lot of fandoms kind of got abandoned for it, but that's the fault of the fans, not the show!
*pets you*
And you deserve some praise, bay-bee - it was a wonderful *horrible* ride!

And hey, I'm a die-hard SG fan and will watch ANY vehicle in the franchise. If that makes me wank-worthy, well, so be it. *grins*
(Also, I have SGA fic if you're ever interested. Don't feel obligated, however. It's all archived at Wraithbait.)
