Yes, I find that plot line really tiresome. I also find its sister plot, stories that are entirely about two characters getting to know each other and falling in love, really boring. I mean the ones that have no other plot going on, the ones that are entirely about a couple falling for each other. If they're well written and periiodically idiosunchratic, they can hold my attention, but I generally find them forgettable.
People seem to forget that characters and relationships are important, but that stories need to be driven by some kind of *plot* to be really interesting. I blame James Joyce.
