They *are* making what Wes is doing more interesting and more conflicty. I was happy for Angel with his son and how that seemed to change him but now we're back to brooding and angst and... Blah.
When Angel 'left' and his father stood there and said 'i've never stood in your way' it was obvious that the father and the son had so much more going on... But we only got to see spoiled Liam rampaging. *sigh*.
I think you're right, William was simple in his desires and wants and for a while he had exactly what he wanted with Dru - someone to care for and adore, who adored him back. And then... Drama!
Except to say that the same William who craved social acceptance and looked after his mother would chat up waitresses and be glad for the chance to become freinds with an old acquaintance, and you show the way he acts to gain those ends with perfect clarity.
That, now - that makes me smile and feel a wonderful warm glow. Thank you so much!
